Could be that Almgren ends his career with more European Records than Jakob. He already has the 5000m, HM, and 10k (road). I expect he'll take a shot at Farah's 26:46 10000m record next year. And would you bet against him eventually getting Abdi's 2:03:36? It's definitely a possibility though always hard to say how well athletes adapt to the marathon
Hold your horses! I think we all expect Jakob to take down that 5000m record. The 10,000m track one will be tricky to find the right race, but if Jakob moved up he'd be likely to beat whatever mark is set. Similarly, the 10K road one is easy pickings. As of now, the only "safe one" ahead of 2029-30 (when I could see Jakob getting out of the 1500) is the HM. Jakob would need a lot of injuries in my estimation to not own everything but the HM by then (or a lack of interest in honing in on the 10K for long like Kipchoge).
All maybes at the minute though. You'd think Jakob could run under 12:44, but he hasn't shown any interest in trying to do so for years now. His attempt at the HM was a huge disappointment and even if he did go out just to get the 10k national record as some claim, then his chances at running 26:53 look les than certain to me. Could be that Jakob found his sweet spot at 3000m.

Haven´t you been a bit pessimistic regarding Jakob´s potential in the past (and more optimistic about the Brits?). So isn´t your uncertainties just "business as usual"?
I have been rather optimistic about Jakob for years and been right about WR attacks and more.
But I will give you that even I am uncertain if he will come back to his best after this injury hampered outdoor season.
