Has he not a run a step in the last 2.5 years? Did he gain 50 pounds? What is happening? He could have run 26:18 for 8k at 16 years old in a workout...
I'm not too high on Putz, odd body composition. Hoping he succeeds, but I think Juan Gonzalez will have a better career. I'm intrigued to see where Grady Lenn ends up as well, I probably missed where he committed
"Odd body composition" and I look him up and he's just black
He stores a little extra weight at times, shorter and stockier overall than your typical D1 stud
Not sure if you are looking for a letsrun argument or entirely missed my point...either way...I was saying his race is no big deal. He's done better in workouts in high school. I mentioned the grass before anyone said, "well it would have slowed him down so he was actually faster than his high school workouts". I'm rooting for AS, but this is a solid D3 freshman time for an athlete not coached very well in high school that a good coach can develop.
Question is what was his goal for this run? If it's just a tempo run like the earlier meet, then who cares what his time is.
Plan seems to be to bring him along slowly and keep him healthy, not go all out in the Nutty B race.
Now I need to know if NAU forked out all of this money to fly Aaron across the country to do a tempo run in a B race. I think Aaron just needs to decide if he wants to be awesome at this moment in time or not. He's run in a enough big races with obvious high level results in his life on multiple occasions. It's up to him at this point in time.

He’s just not competitive anymore and doesn’t seem to care. And honestly, NAU is under weak new leadership, it’s over. That’s okay though; not everyone is meant to thrive in college running or be a great college coach

I don't think we'll see it this fall. He will have to get his confidence back in shorter races and build that strength. I still have hope, but would love to see him under Smith instead of Cornfield. I imagine he'll race 1 or 2 more times this fall

Edit: looking at their schedule, maybe not. Perhaps he can get into a quick 800 or mile at BU in December
