4:25 first mile for the men! Great day for running (54 degrees) though there is a bit of wind -- 9 mph. The wind is out of the southeast and the first mile runs south to north, so that may explain the very fast opening split.

ESPN should take notes. This is how you cover a marathon. You don't fill up 3/4 of the race with human interest stories and commercials.

Woman’s pacer is legend. Red sweatband, long sleeve, short sleeve, singlet. Must have a sick three stripe track suit for after the race.

Almost a little emotional. I'm tuned in to watch the Chicago marathon and I'm actually watching the Chicago marathon, more so than local wheelchairers.

The coverage is really good so far. When they cut away to the wheelchairs almost immediately after the start, the commentator was quick to explain that the camera feed was going to cut out while the runners were going through a tunnel. That gave me hope that they actually care about covering the race.

Let's hope it holds.
