I think it's pretty obvious. She just had one of the longest HS track seasons ever that ended in late June. What does it benefit anyone for her to run in a meet against Coastal Local Directional School of Technology?
June is not a long season, it’s not like she ran US champs on July. Stop
Side note - looks like a clear group A and group B for the track work. I’d guess that at adds up to 3 Cougs in the top 25 at Nats, any 4 of another half dozen around 50th, and Hutchins as another potential top 25 if her health and training cooperate.
Jane currently holds NINE, I repeat, NINE all time national records. Her legacy is set in stone and she will race when her coach tells her to race. Expect an indoor 5k national collegiate record this winter and an outdoor 5k/10k record this spring. She will dabble in the 1500 a couple times but will set that record on down the road in a future season when she's no longer a college underclassmen. Likely when she's not even trying to break it.

June is a very long season when you're running a meet every other week due to being invited to so many invitational events.
That she didn't run US champs is a fully irrelevant and arbitrary cutoff for what you personally consider a long or short season.

Rohatinsky just finished 20 seconds back of Chamberlain at OSU. I don't see her in top 25 by a long shot.
I don't get it. Katelyn Tuohy IMMEDIATELY started running for NC State when she started. Why hasn't Jane run a single race yet. It's now October 2, 2025. Is Jenna Hutchins injured AGAIN!!? She is ALWAYS "injured." What happened to Natalie Cook? Dalia Frias had an OK Freshman year at Duke, and unwisely transfered to University of Oregon where she promptly broke BOTH of her feet- how ridiculous. She hasn't really run in years. Should have stayed at UCLA for the Academics after transfering there through the portal for literally ONE DAY!
Who cares. Remember Amber Trotter, Sarah Baxter, Brie Oakely, Claudia Lane, Dalia Frias, Natalie Cook. All top 5 High School runners.. and then got to college and BOMBED! Claudia won Footlocker twice in a row, and then basically QUIT after Junior Year of HS. She wrote about it- bad form, and wasn't into running anymore. Many HS GOATS bomb when they go to college. Very sus that Jane has NOT run at all at BYU.

I think you are right in that you don't get it. Tuohy started at NC St in the Fall of 2020 and ran her first race for them in February I believe of 2021. XC "2020" Nationals was in March of 2020 and she did run in that race.
A better example would have been Kelsey Chmiel, who did start running for NC St in the Fall of her freshman year.
Personally I think it is wise to Taylor to be patient with Jane H who had a pretty full (and fast) schedule of races in the first half of the year.
Tuohy is your example? She hit the ground running in college and then flamed out. Jane has the best coach in the NCAA. She has a long term plan for her, not one that gets her a few titles and then a sub elite career. Jane is on track to be the top American of all time.
Sometimes it takes time for students to settle in at BYU before they're ready to compete. BYU may have her on a different track where she'll compete in her mid 20s after mission trips to the Rift Valley in Kenya, Flagstaff, AZ, maybe the Spanish Sierra Nevadas or South Africa too.
Well, they have the right to do that. I think her dad knows that's not what is in her best interest in terms of where her system currently is. Her system (body) is in a position now that she kinda needs to attack, not wait 6 years to start competing again. I think what they are doing with Danny Simmons is ridiculous. You can't run in the 13s, take 4 years off, and expect to still be running in the 13s. The human body doesn't work that way.

2 years, not 4. Also, taking the mission hasn't severely impacted peoples' running progression - it is easier to get back into shape than if you never ran at all.
