I think Georgia has explained why she stopped running. It’s an interesting story to read. I think she had lots of injuries early in her career. She was very talented though if you go back and look at her stats. She was also a world champion at the Duathlon.
Versus Odira who really didn’t post any fast time as a junior. She was running 2.11 at 20..Came back in 2024 and ran some 2.04s, 2.02 then finally under 2.
Her times this year have been wildly erratic. 2.16, 2.04, 1.58, 2.08, 2.02, 2.13 then inexplicably a 1.56 in August. Then in Tokyo, bam, a 1.57, 1.56 and 1.54!
But what does that say about elite athletics? I can't think of another sport where someone could take time out from age 22 to 30 and then come back to be one of the best in the world. Is elite athletics really that easy? I remember Martina Hingis taking years out from tennis after being the very best in the world and when she came back she was solid but nowhere near making Grand Slam finals. And she was legitimately one of the most talented teenagers the sport had ever seen. Or do we ask just how good GHB could have been in those intervening years if she'd stuck with Trevor Painter instead of going to the US?
But isnt that just it? Clearly athletics has a sort of upper limit of human performance esp in shorter races. Everyone is sort of stuck on mostly the same times for the 100, 200, 400, 800, 1500 etc...Nobody suddenly runs 3:20 for the 15? Or 1:38 for 800. We are at a relative limit. These races are being decided by tenths and thousandths. So if you have the goods, you can take a break...why not? You just need to get back to the same place, it's not like the train leaves without you? They didn't lower the 800m record or 400m record the whole time she was gone. Not saying its easy. But nobody is getting better while she is gone.
I'm gonna agree with Kambundji She was a marginal finalist prospect before the champs and several of those ahead of her have strong Champs creds as well as better PRs.
That event is both very deep globally and very unpredictable.
Kambundji came over as articulate and engaging in her post race interview... so she also now climbs my hotness ladder.
If you were an athlete at that level surely this is the last event you want to find yourself in..no medal is a sure thing no matter how well you run prechamps.
Nice. Ill go with all the mens shot putters KNOWING a week in advance that they WEREN'T going to win. The only one that had a chance messed up at usatf and didnt make the team. I'll throw Munoz a bone though.
Huh? Is that because they knew they had no chance against Crouser or something else?
Weak mentality. I guarantee that they WEREN’T thinking that a week in advance. They hold competitions for a reason. Unless, as another poster mentioned, you’re alluding to something I’m not aware of.

These lies NEED TO STOP. And stop now.
I called Steve Magness out for this very similar faleshood today on X. According to tilastapaja, Odira ran 2:04 in 2016 as a teenager before having 2 children. Her "insane" progression is very similar but less crazy than Georgia-Hunter Bell's.
Odira ran 2:04 at 17 and now 1:54 at 26.
That's less suspect but very similar to 2:03 at 20 and then 1:54 at 31.
Shouldn't this tweet be retracted or amended? You conveniently left off the fact that, according to tilastopaja, Odira ran 2:04 in 2016 as a teenager before having 2 children. Her "insane" progression is very similar but less crazy than Georgia-Hunter Bell's - 2:03 at 20 and now… https://t.co/ulG680O1uN
PS. And your statement about her misleading times is so misleading it's basically false news. Her 2:16 was when she fell at World Indoors. In every outdoor race since May, she's finished 1st or 2nd. Who cares what the time is?
I am the actual world record holder for the 1500m. I ran 3:24.58 a few weeks ago in a time trial. I am also the first person to summit Mt Everest wearing nothing but a Speedo, have six PhDs, performed on Broadway, own three properties on Mulholland Drive, Park Avenue, and in South Beach, and am secretly dating Taylor Swift (my buddy Travis Kelcee is covering for me).
How about doing something about these lies first:
Coach a college team. Have a MS in Neuroscience. Work as an ornithology professor. Won the Death Valley Marathon in course record time. Hosted a lemonade sale to fund his runners' altitude camp at Snow Mountain Ranch. Own a chain of XXX tanning salons. Ran 4:27 as a 15-yo 9th grader. Ran 1:58 this year at age 39. Attended the Flagstaff Coaches Clinic. Ran 32:00 at the Crescent City Classic. Ran 1:17 for a half marathon this year. Was a walk-on for a D1 school in Oklahoma for three semesters. Has a USATF Level4/5 coaching certification. Spent summers working on Texas oil wells growing up. Had a total lung transplant at age 8. Live in Bourne, Texas. Used to do long runs with Clayton Murphy. Climbed Pico de Orizaba and Aconcagua. Ran 2:30.5 for the 1000m while attending UTEP. Competed and medaled in the World Indigenous Games in Australia. "Went back and forth for two years" with Drew Griffith about recruiting him to his team in San Antonio. Ran 2:37 at the 2024 Disney Marathon. Was 9th in the "white heat" of the USATF Road Mile Championships this year. Attended school with a current member of the ZAP team. Was a professional runner with the ZAP team. Was class president and organizer of his class reunion. Won the Rock 'n' Roll race in Philadelphia. Ruptured his kidney due to wearing track spikes. Studied bird populations in Africa and Madagascar during graduate school. Took his team to the NAIA nationals this year. Is the head coach at a D2 school in Texas. Presented at the Cross Country Coaches Association of Texas convention. Ran for UTEP from 2006-2007. Graduated high school in 2007. AMAZINGLY, ALL THE SAME PERSON!!!

Why does any thread making a convincing argument that same troll is the vulgar Rich in CA troll get deleted?
Is it true that rojo actually made that troll one of this forum’s moderators?!?
Lilian ODIRA winning the 800m. Very very suspect. Nobody is telling “lies”. People are questioning a very suspect performance with simple facts. It’s not just what she’s done for the past 5 years, but what she’s done this year.
This post was edited 12 minutes after it was posted.
People are simply giving facts about her past times and experiences and questioning how that makes you a 1:54 runner. Of course with the plethora of recent Kenyan suspensions, it’s going to raise an eyebrow
