In my country running is (almost) the same as basketball: we have a joke, 90% of the audience in the seats is girlfriends of the players. Nobody cares, nobody watches it. Running is even worse than basketball, they don't broadcast any of it. It's for it's own consmption!
So, you guys are very strange to me. To be so much invested in a runner?! Be Hocker, or Jacob or any other hot name... Like what's the storyline, what does it mean in the big picture? Is there great rivalry? Is the guy an interesting persona in or out of the track? No or probably no to most of these questions. And it's not like the guy has a social media series or something like that so you can personally connect with him and his story.
You HAVE to be really deep in the weeds of pro running to actually know what you're watching and even then you have to self generate that active interest to go and watch it because it's very bland on it's own. Kudos I guess.
