Curious if you were so quick to post critique regarding our president of the last 4 years?
Biden was completely nonsensical the last 2 years. He couldn’t even find his way off the stage at times. Two of his kids are drug addicts. He was “the big guy”. We could go on and on. Seriously, were you one to jump on here and point those things out, or is it only when your team isn’t in charge?
Yeah, I got to meet Biden and talk to him for a minute or so. Seemed like a good guy with good intentions, but he definitely didn't have the mental capacity for leading the country. Probably a great grandpa though.
Trump also doesn't have the mental capacity but doubt he has very many redeemable qualities. Maybe I'll entertain the idea of meeting him if given the chance just to see if he is as narcissistic and bad as he seems (I'm a military officer, so the opportunities come around every so often).
You are a military officer? He is your commander in chief. Maybe you shouldn't be saying these things online, even if anonymously. My husband was military for 22 years and he NEVER commented online about anything political. He rarely even talked to me, his spouse, about these things because ultimately it was always his chain of command (and he took that very seriously).
I wouldn’t quite go with “literally the opposite,” which I’d take to be that TPUSA students never lodge such complaints and instead go around attempting to uphold all students’ freedom of speech.
Of course, you have in mind the innumerable complaints lodged by left-wing students for various reasons, which can have a chilling effect on speech and undermine a school’s mission of free inquiry. The guy seems to see the mote in the right’s eye while neglecting the beam in the left’s in that regard, though.
But even though his case seems overblown, I believe you can find organizations like FIRE noting that there have been rising amounts of concerns like this from the right too.
Not making up stuff. TPUSA even has a website for there "professor watchlist". Anyone who gets on there faces an onslaught of complaints and attacks on social media.
People like yourself and people who revel and glory in the execution of a man for speaking have no business being around children.
See this a lot from knuckleheads across the political spectrum here: wild distortion of fact.
”for saying anything.” Really, now?
I think “for gleefully rejoicing in the murder of the man” or “for callously making jokes about the murder of the man” is more accurate.
are you going to provide examples of anyone who lost their job over deciding to post something like “It’s tragic that he died but he said [insert thing that person would disagree with].”
I think that last item would be in poor taste, and it’s very different from what I would consider appropriate, which is simply “This is a horrible event and an unconscionable act of violence. My heart goes out to his family.” Full stop.
But even though I’d disagree with the people posting in poor taste, I wouldn’t necessarily consider them displaying highly questionable values or antisocial begavior. And I haven’t seen any such people facing serious consequences for it.
Yes this is what I’m saying. People have lost their jobs for saying “wow I don’t like that he died and I don’t like what he said when he was alive” as then they are fired
The left kills people who engage in free speech, as demonstrated yet again with Kirk being shot by a leftist. The self-deception on the left is staggering.
“The left kills” = a minute number of deranged leftists. This is as bad as those on social media spouting about how “they killed” somebody.
That’s all contrived to make you angry at the people you see at the grocery store and across the room on parent-teacher night. You know: the people who love their kids and live pretty much the way you do, but vote differently and hold some different opinions. I’ve long been of the opinion that you don’t make hateful judgments and wish malice upon people for holding different opinions and deciding to vote for a different candidate.
My experience of those people as they aren’t killing anyone or enjoying the thought of anyone being killed.
I don't agree with Rep Higgins, but I think it's coming from a place of immense hurt and grief. As the saying goes hurt people hurt people. He needs to take some time and breathe.

When I saw photos of a guy who had his truck painted to make it look like Biden was gagged and tied up in the back, I didn’t jump to the conclusion that was representative of Republican voters, but then, I pretty much automatically wouldn’t. But the Democrats I know in real life also never seem like they think Republicans are all like that.
Are you kidding? No way people would be fired from their for saying negative things about Kirk. That's a violation of people's 1st Amendment rights.
Freedom of speech isn’t freedom from consequences
In general yes, but when some of these people are public school teachers it’s the government compelling a specific viewpoint and therefore a likely first amendment violation
The government doesn't have the right to restrict your speech. Employers can hold you responsible for your speech on and off of work.
True, except when people work for the government. Like, two school teachers in Iowa that have been placed on leave for calling Charlie a Nazi and saying he was a terrible person.

TPUSA has a list of hyper-liberal professors who use their teaching position for political activism. It isn't allowed in high school, it shouldn't be allowed at public colleges either.

Amazing how many liberal “Geniuses” don’t get this.
Amazing how you don’t realize somebody working as a public school teacher has the government as their employer, and therefore the employer can not restrict speech.

Yeah, you can't have government employees, who are expected to serve everyone, gleefully cheering the assassination of a political figure and mocking his death and surviving family. That is grounds to be fired. They aren't being thrown in jail. Do you really think working for the government makes you immune from consequnces for such abhorrent behavior?
I don't agree with Rep Higgins, but I think it's coming from a place of immense hurt and grief. As the saying goes hurt people hurt people. He needs to take some time and breathe.
Why is removing the most reprehensible people in society from social media and positions of influence a bad thing?

They make their money from taxation and want to be immune from answering to taxpayers, the definition of entitlement.

It’s a job. You don’t have a right to a government job anymore than a private sector one.
By your idiotic logic, a male government employee can walk around all day calling the female employees cvnts and not have repercussions.
I talk bad about Charlie Kirk all the time and even say good riddance. No firing for me. You know why? Because I only say it with anonymous accounts on LRC or in text messages. Why would anyone post negative stuff publicly. You have to be a dim light bulb to do that.
