I guess there are really no stakes for running your mouth, especially since there is always an excused-filled YouTube video you can put out and then go hide. What's wrong with what he said? Would you prefer the world champ just say boring things in interviews like, "I will do my best, and we will see what happens." Good luck growing the sport with comments like that!

He helps hold interest in the sport. That said, I hope Hocker nails him.

It’ll be interesting. We’ve never seen a 12.5 or faster finish from him have we? The Cheruiyots, Jonah Koech, Hocker, Laros and Strand have done it. If it goes 3:31+ can he sprint like that? His calling card is great tactics and a good windup in fast races, and GST Philly might be the best last 100 I’ve seen from him but only 12.7-8 I think? Not good enough for what he’ll need.

He ran 22.4 in training, so he has something. I've also seen enough of him winning final lap burn ups in 3:35-ish races - twice in GST this season, a 50-flat final 400 against Wightman at British champs a few years ago. My guess is is he goes early, tries to take it from 200 out and hold the rail. Maybe someone has enough to get round him, maybe not, but that's his best chance. He can probably rely on Tim C or Farken to take the pace early on if they get through
