On the contrary, ethics has no obvious inroads against blood loyalty. That's why monarchies, alliances, empires, hegemonies are typically secured by arranged marriages. Treaties by the taking of blood relative hostages.
You may not agree that the blood, even of your own offspring, outweighs all else. But ethics has to be universal to be valid, and it generally isn't when it comes to this. For example, courts in at least a few states recognize family privilege, like attorney-client privilege - the right not to testify against parents or children. All states and the Feds recognize spousal privilege. Utah's not a full privilege state, but if it were this guy's wife who did it, and not his son, he would not be on the spot. The law would not compel him to tell on her.
We're not talking about the law. We're talking about right, wrong....about ethics, morality....
And I would venture to say that most Republicans would turn him in, many Democrats would not....and that is because many Democrats lack ethics/morals.
Really? You think it's ethical to hand your son over to the state for them to kill him? Have you got family/kids? Are they not your primary loyalty? You'd hand them over?
A lot of people think you're the one without the ethics.

I wouldn't. But I was raised that blood is thicker than water. Family is everything in my large family. We absolutely have an "us against the world" mentality.
So if your son was a serial child rapist and child murderer - you would not turn your son in?
Yes, that is what he is saying. When it’s a question of life and death, it’s each man to himself and your family takes precedence. It’s an animal instinct. Hardly shocking, the virtue signaling in this ridiculous hypothetical of a thread notwithstanding.

Animals turn against their offspring routinely.
Sounds like you are not disagreeing with anything I actually said.
