Even though this thread got pulled, the Runner’s World vs serious running debate is worth a quick take. RW (and similar mainstream outlets) clearly pivoted years ago from deep performance content toward broad-appeal running coverage — that’s partly why some of us here prefer niche forums and specialist sources. It’s not a conspiracy, it’s just audience economics: broader content = more eyeballs, but often less depth for competitive runners.
I still think there’s space for both: mainstream magazines introducing new people to running and dedicated channels/forums where real training, racing, and performance conversations happen. The trick is knowing which one you’re reading and what you want out of it.
