2:42 coming off an Achilles injury. So he would risk tearing it in training? Pigs can fly on these boards.
Knows nothing about training, knows nothing specific about Jakob's injury and/or current condition.
But tall poppy syndrome means he has to try and put down those who are doing something meaningful in life, while all he does is talk about them, and envy them.
So tell us why an athlete would risk tearing an Achilles injury that he is recovering from - which is what 2:42 would easily do (if anyone believes that time)? Explain also how a recovering athlete who hasn't competed since that injury could run a time-trial over 3/4 that is scarcely slower than his 800 pace. We are here to be amused.
Actually it is true. I know from a verified source.
If it is true, everyone here that is a fan of the 1500m should want Jakob to be in this kind of shape. It all but guarantees that the 2025 1500m finals will be that much more exciting to watch. It adds one more person in this mix to challenge Laros to perform his lifetime best. September 17 cannot come fast enough

I agree, and I want all of the guys in the 1500m to be at their absolute best.
Yes, a “verified source”. You’re not Norwegian and I seriously doubt you have a contact with anyone within Jakob’s team.
for the past 5 weeks since returning to the track, Jakob has been bouncing between the track in St. Moritz and Chiavenna. Both are public and open tracks with lots of people using them throughout the day. You don't have to be Norwegian or on his team to be there. If Jakob did run a 1200m time trial, it wouldn't necessarily be a secret, and nothing is prohibiting anyone there from casually hand timing his splits.
This is more than likely made up, but it's not 100%

He injured it 5 full months ago. Didn't require surgery. Returned to threshold sessions on the treadmill 12 weeks ago. Completed base training at altitude at the end of July. If he's ready to line up for the prelims on Sept.14, he's not at risk to tear anything by doing race pace work this week.
Asking the REAL questions. I'd love to see some sort of distance conversion calculator (that also converts times from "non-ditances" for example 900m, 1200m, 1700m etc. to actual race/championships distances)
I remember McSweyn pacing Jakob in Silesia 2023 to a 3:27.14. They were pretty much even at 1200m at 2:46.82. McSweyn was obviously not in 3:27low shape that day, but running 1200m in 2:46.82 (same average speed as 3:28.52 in a 1500m) indicates great shape. I wonder what McSweyn was capable of doing in a (wellpaced) 1500m that day.
Centro was a strength based 1500m runner. 13:00 in his only serious stab at 5k as a pro. Winning a 3:50 1500m race in those circumstances came down to tactical ingenuity and remaining in control of the rail.
Say he did run 2:42:15 (even though it might be troll)
What 1500m time would that predict? (Hypothetically)
Definitely close to 3:26, but it’s hard to quantify because we don’t really have a good estimate of his 800m fitness. Most of the time you can just add 800m and Mile times and it gives a good estimate for the 1200.

He ran 3:31.4 a week later…iirc he was the lone guy to go with the pacer in the race but it was well-paced and he was pretty maxed out when he got swallowed up.
