Cole has a solid chance, probably certain to medal. He's a fast finisher, hugs the rail and has the experience and mentality.

Laros undoubtedly in form, incredible kick. Rounds and experience might be a factor for him - but i'd put money on him medalling.

Kerr has peaked in every major final, knows how to deliver and will be strong going into the WC. Without Jacob in form, he'll probably be more relaxed and run more in the rail.

Jacob - top 5 still. Form might no be there, but talent doesnt go away.

Dark horses.... most of the field could medal depending on the type of race. Nathanuel looks good, Wightman has a kick and is getting in shape, both Cheryuts could go out and influence the race.

How the race unfolds? No idea, but for 3mins 27 or so seconds, it will be one for the ages!

I am a betting man, but I don't make bets like that. I typically bet on low chance people like a 2%er if I think their odds should be like 6%. I wouldn't bet on them if their odds were 5%, or in the case of Hocker I wouldn't go even money on a 60%.

Here is another stat, Jakob has 3 medals at the 1500m, including Gold. So he is better at peaking than Hocker who only has one.

Jakob, at heart, is a 5000/10000m championship runner. It will be very hard for him to win in the 1500m with all these fast kicking guys.

Cole is certainly deserving to be talked about, but what has he actually done this year to deserve any recognition as the favorite? Has he won a single 1500 since the olympics? The landscape has completely changed since last year with the arrival of koech x 2, laros, habz, no yared, and jakobs injury. One extremely good result can indicate someone's ceiling (albeit from over a year ago) but I'm going to stick to his most recent form for how I'm betting.

13:20 today is a jog. 51x is no big deal off that. Nor was it an international race.
