He did a lot of traveling in a small period of time, so this isn't totally unexpected. It's why I never give American runners stick for not running every Diamond League race. It's just not intelligent to compare European runners who can take a train to most meets to runners who have to travel an entire day(mostly through the air).

Maybe don't run needless races you don't need to (Brussels) when you are clearly running completely on fumes, which is why you end up even running your immune system into the ground and getting a "cold".
And maybe next season your coach could actually put some thought in and periodize your training instead of stupidly believing you can just be thresholding all year round and in shape to race basically 10 months of the year too. Just a thought.
A total cascade of bad consequences for his brain fart at USAs. Hopefully all of this will lead him to learn from it. I give him credit for trying to work his way to Tokyo, knowing that it’s a lot of racing and that even if he made it, there would not be much to his legs once there. Again, a learning opportunity. Why do people get so butthurt when someone who obviously isn't 100% healthy, confirms that they are/have been sick or injured? Nuguse has consistently been one of the top guys over several years, and not just in championships. That says more about the quality runner he is, than others who might overachieve in single races while drafting off better runners. He deserves a lot of respect.
