The spot for the 1500 is guarenteed to go to Kerr (paris silver medalist)So does he get the 800 spot since burgin and pattison both ran the trials?Hopefully cause he looks like he is in great shape (4th london diamond league, 2:13 1k time trial)

Just to answer a very obvious question ~ it's the top 5 at USA Trials:

Hocker
Strand
Koech
Nuguse
Kessler

Even with Kessler's stinking it up, his season is far better than Neil Gourley's and around the same or better than Wightman's. Hoey obviously adds even more depth. Wightman today showed me basically nothing ~ are we so confident now that he makes the Semis or Gourley does too?

Btw, the next fastest Kenyan after Wanyonyi this year is Chepkwony in 15th. There are only four Kenyans in the 50 fastest 800m times this season. If it wasn't for Beradelli (and the protected Faith), the athletics coach with more busted runners than any other in history, Kenyan middle-distance would be in an apalling state

4 guys under 3:30 indicates you are seriously reaching. In the 800, there are 5 Kenyans in the top 23 marks in the World. Keep doctoring the numbers how you please.

As much as I hate to side with Coevett - looks like TL got caught with his pants down.

A "tactical" race is not the same as a DL time-trial or a Jakob paced race, or even races with time qualifiers (I like that this has been eliminated as people need to race to beat people to get a spot, not just run a fast time). Too many people see these races as "real" races (for time) and tactical(sometimes slow) as fake races. It is infecting even HS races where kids expect pacers or even lights in order to race. Obsession with time is NOT a good thing for a championship racer. Based on today, it is a skill that seems to be lacking in some.

Tbf, my follow-up in which I said this was an absurd take and at least two Brits would be in the final was also upvoted. I think we've all posted a poor take on here at some point, it's part of the posting game.

Mills would have done nothing here. Best case: he gets to the final and takes the pace before getting beasted in the final 100. Worst case: he trips three guys, gets back up and dropkicks Niels Laros

I don't want to pick on ThoughtsLeader, but he does come out with weird takes on a regular basis. The most recent was when he explained away Habz becoming the 5th fastest in history on June 20th, and being dumped out of the heats in Tokyo less than 3 months later, as 'father time is undefeated'.
