His "having it his way" doesn't seem to apply only to coaching. This is a personality who cannot be differed with.
The old school way is the only way to succeed. You see so many modern junkies introducing tech and new schools of thought to training but they still haven’t succeeded or beat the previous greats.

The term "coaching" also implies guidance rather than directorial authority that can't be questioned. The best teachers and coaches aren't tyrants. As you say, a "bit of flexibility" can produce better results.
Yes. -In the court trial testimonies Jakob claimed that Gjert forced him (as a youngster) to run (training) with a hurtful stress fracture against his will. Jakob’s sister reported about a similar incident when she was coached. And the director of sport in the Norwegian Athletic Federation testified about a quarrel Gjert instigated only minutes before Henrik and Filip were to run the Euro champs 1500m final. Hardly good coaching here, when it comes to producing good results, IMO,…
You have a good point that the kids had to say they wanted to run, but what you're missing is that kids, starved for their father's love and attention, often will choose to do things they think will gain that love and attention, because they think the parents want them to do those things. I know this from experience with my own kids. Yes, they said it, but they probably did that because they knew Gjert wanted them to do it, and in the sister's case, because otherwise all his attention was focused on Jakob, Filip, and Henrik. Indeed, because she was so far away from the professional level and wasn't dominating age group competition (also the case for Filip until he was around 17 or 18), he still didn't pay much attention to her when she was running and that was a major source of contention between them before the 'incident'. (I am getting all this from the Team Ingebrigtsen show).
It is part of the "men are pigs" project. They are in the club and this is pantomime. The trial didn't even happen. Undermining the father in the home is a central plank of the progressive project.
Will it all work out in the end? It may well do! Just keep WW3 at bay till the worlds finish.

It's nothing to fret about really. good coaches gotta be passionate and sometimes being slightly physical is what it takes to make a champion. Mackey frequently uses the fack word with Kerr during pre race reviews. He said something like just fack the final 400m or something like that and look Kerr won! coaching is art not science. if your pupil likes to use fack words then you should coach to suit him. turn him on using fack language. that's Scottish culture yea?

Wow, coach dropping f-bombs around with little or no regard for people's (Josh Kerr in this case) mental health and potential triggers (and past trauma).
You never know what people are dealing with so it's best to get your point across in a positive manner. This is entirely possible in almost every scenario with no loss of information.
Frick is a good substitute, i.e. "just frick the final 400m".
If you absolutely need to talk in a harsh and uncompromising way, make sure to get consent beforehand (written).
