I think Grant and Nico are locks to make the team. So it's going to come down to Graham and Woody. If the pace is fast then Graham will probably be able to distance himself from Woody and make the team. The only way I see Woody making the team is if it's a slow pace for the first 7k. If he's on Blanks shoulder at the bell Graham is toast.

The only thing that makes this race interesting is that these guys are caught between wanting to run slow to conserve for the 5, and wanting to run fast to keep Woody out of it. Who is gonna be the guy to take it upon himself to set that fast pace? Grant and Nico are gonna be fine no matter how the race goes (on paper). Another consideration is how much Grant wants to win vs just making the team.

Casey Clinger is another guy who might take it out and push the pace, but I don't think he can run away from the field.
Graham Blanks, Nico Young, Woody Kincaid, and Grant Fisher the clear favorites but only three go to Worlds. someone might run the race of their life and STILL not make the team.
who have you got?
What are you smoking? This is like the easiest event to pick in the prediction contest. Fisher, Young, and Blanks in that order, almost guaranteed. Those three are much more fit than anyone else. Young has a better kick than Blanks, and Fisher has a better kick than Young. Simple.

Not that they're the favorites, they're the only ones who are qualified. The first 3 to finish the line out of those three are who makes the team. If one of them drops out the others could literally jog and get last place and they'd make the team. I wonder if any of them are thinking of that if they plan to give the 5k a shot as well. Just make sure they get 3rd in the 10,000m out of those four athletes and save themselves for the more challenging 5,000m race. (more challenging because there are many more contenders to make the team)
Nico and Grant won’t be the ones pushing the pace early, they’ll want to conserve their legs for the 5000m. Maybe they wind it up over the last 800m but I don’t see them pressing before. I would say the same for Graham, but he doesn’t want Woody or someone else to kick him down if the pace is slower and if so that could be a possibility. I see someone like Casey Clinger or Graham pushing the pace a bit early, in which I don’t see any world where Woody makes the team. I think it’ll be Grant, Nico, and Graham; but I do think it’s very possible Graham doesn’t make the 5000m team despite him being a strength based runner.

These are my thoughts exactly. Therefore: great post!
At 14:55/ 18:01 ain’t nobody pushing the pace. This is like minor league baseball, the 4 that have the standard just need someone to play the game and keep it interesting before they go to the next level. Only 1 guy is going home really devastated

I think the poster asked what proof do we have that Woody is in good shape, not what proof do we have that he might be able to place high in an NCAA meet.
