Although it's good to see Galen back running and racing, the question is WHY? What are Rupp fans expecting to see? Is he going to win a WMM? Is he training for L.A. 2028? Realistically, it will be very difficult for Galen to return to the form he once had, in fact , it will be very difficult for him to get close to the form he once had. At age 39, and the injury history he's endured, I would say it is a near impossible feat for him to be a competitive elite runner again. No matter how he feels mentally, he physically can't train at the level he's accustomed to. Once your daily motivation priorities shift from "I'm gonna crush today's workout", to "I hope I don't get hurt", or adjusting training workouts to accommodate injury risk, you're DONE! The question for Galen is, what's next? Coaching? Nike employee? Can Galen be an effective coach? Does he have the communication skills necessary to be an effective coach? If Rupp can translate his vast running experience into elite coaching, he may find a new career in the sport.
Galen will be 40 next May. Galen would now struggle to defeat the top women on the track. This is what happens sometimes when one gets injuries and ages out of one’s prime. Also maybe he misses the Salazar secret recipe.
Bekele ran 2:04 at 41 twice.
You must not be very bright. Your post has nothing to do with mine.
Galen was 54 seconds behind a 28:19 guy who won, so Galen would be battling to defeat Beatrice Chebet.
Big dawg… I get you may be disappointed with his first race back in almost 1.5 years, but battling to defeat Beatrice Chebet is wild. You do know what the women’s 10k world record is on the track and the roads right?
I am not disappointed. I am not sure what your point is beyond that.
Name one runner that improved after working with Salazar???
Did you mean after they stopped working with Salazar? Because Farah, Rupp, Hissan, Murphy, Rowbury etc all became a lot better when they started working with Salazar.
let me get this straight. Barrett criticizes Salazar, but Dahl has not won the Boston city Marathon. Dahl has not won the NYC marathon. When Dahl wins a marathon major, or the Olympic trials in the mile because it’s his best event - then I will listen to him.
keep whining, earring boy.
Was that purely rhetorical, or do you not recognize LRCs greatest troll?
He's got nothing on Trollie Mcsockpuppet or Flagpole. They are the champs. You must be new.
Course was altered this year due to bridge construction, and almost certainly short - everyone's watches got ~5.9 miles, and this altered version was seemingly not certified (at least that I can find searching online)
