calling it now. Koech will win the WC and then break the WR next year. He will go down as the GOAT along with El G. Jakob is past tense.
Slightly OT, but the way Koech pushed his way through on the inside with (was it) 250 to go should be reviewed for possible DQ, not only did it look like he was borderline using his arms on the runner he needed to pass, that runner's rhythm/cadence was clearly affected and he was one of those that fell shortly after. Runners have been DQed for less methinks.
This is a European race, thousands of races with worse interference and no DQ.
Koech, I'm hoping, is just a phenom because the alternative isn't good for the sport. But 3:27 at 18? Damn
There are two options
1. This guy found a new wonderdrug better than the drugs everyone else has, capable of turning an 18 year old into an age group phenom.
2. Another Kenyan athlete is older than they say and this is a situation more like Ronald Kwemoi or Silas Kiplagat where the athlete has a peak year then slowly fades out. He could likely snag a medal at this or next year's world champs.

Allow me to explain the frenzy. Three months ago, Koech was soundly beaten by a 5k runner in a road mile. Today he took down the World 1500m Champion in a 3:28 race.
You mean a 5k runner who sniped him in the last 100 and ran 12:44 to win a DL. Seems like Nico Young deserves some respect.
Oh yeah, because it makes perfect sense for a 5k/10k specialist to easily outkick a 3:27 man in a slow road mile. No one is disrespecting Nico, you just conjured that up to distract from the main point that Koech's progression is totally suspect. He has gone from zero to hero in a few months, just like Katir (who you also defended lol) did a few years ago. You want to talk about Koech's shady coach and agent?
Ollie Hoare dead last again (not counting runners who fell) is it physical or mental or a combination of both?
I was in the stadium and watching Olli closely as I was rooting for him. He actually looked really strong up until the fall and was making gradual moves. Not sure how well it came across on the broadcast but he looked massively affected by the falls, that mess pretty much killed his momentum.
His results have been bad recently but this one shouldn’t be held against him.
Keoch reminds me of a little known runner at the time named Filbert Bayi who showed up at the 1974 Commonwealth Games and beat all the favorites including John Walker and in a world record time , and a year later beat the rest of the best from America and Europe in the mile and also broke that world record . He may have even won in the 76 Olympics but all the African Countries boycotted. What surprised me most about Koech is that he is so young but also that he has a really nice kick. Once he knew he beat Kerr, he ease up 10 meters before the line so he could have easily gone in the 3:27's again. He's scary talented and the other person who easily beat Kerr this year is 800 meter Emmanuel Wanyonyi and the 1500m/mile runners better just pray that he doesn't double at the world champs. It could be 1-2 Kenya.

This is rekrunner level copium, dude.
It’s not. First of all, you are going nuts over a road mile in April, are you not? Do you think he was peaking for it or something? Second, did you watch the race? Koech runs with Wanyonyi aggressively, taking wind and seemingly faltering the last 150. Nico Young sits far off the pace, biding his time despite soloing a 12:51 5000 in the recent past. The pace was honest.
Is it so impossible a young, developing runner doesn’t nail an early-season road mile in his first high-level pro appearance after going out hard?
Suspicious Italian coach. Agent who repped Asbel Kiprop.
How much of a big deal is having the same agent, really? Track and field seems like kind of a small world. Especially if the point of having an agent is that they have the ability to get you into meets and negotiate sponsorship deals, there can't be that many suitable agents for a talented runner.

And it’s not even the same agent, coach, training setup etc. Granted you can fairly hit out at all of those for Wanyonyi, Koech and Sawe. But doing so accurately is better.
