There are now 36 women with the automatic standard for the 800m with a projected field of 32. Only about 3 wildcards will get in with a cutoff of around 2:00.89. They will need to make the Q time 2:00 or under for the next championships.
great run, by the way. his timing was off during NCAA season, but he's looked great his last 2 races (here and Sunset Tour) both races he timed his kick perfectly.
I think he thrives better in races like these where there are pros going for PR's and the pace is fast. slow tactical NCAA races aren't his strong suit.

Nice run for Anna Camp Bennett, getting the auto qual standard. Engelhardt runs a PR 4:07.78 for 8th. Tyynismaa ran I believe the fastest 1500 since her freshman year at Alabama, 4:10.82.
And nice run by NAU Alex Carlson holding on FTW in heat 2 in a 4 sec PR of 4:10.50.
Why would Wolfe not at least attempt the standard of 13:01? I honestly don’t get it. He gets fit so quickly and should have been at Oxy last weekend. I would bet he does pretty well at USA but will it be the second time that poor planning keeps Wolfe off a team?
Also - I think that pace job from Strand was an impressive performance itself. Brought them all the way through 1200 meters in 2:50, and made it look pretty light. Sure, it's pacing, but I can't help but think he's got a big 1500 in him watching that.
I would agree. He has run 3:48 x3 this year over the mile, I believe. His last one at Pre was done handily and in style. I think 3:30 in the right race is not out of the question.
Not likely to be fit enough to beat any of the sub 1250 guys. So just get ready to put down the best race he can at USAs rather than force something in that disrupts prep or compromises his health too quickly.
