- He says at the end of the video that he feels he is in PB-type 1500m shape
- London should be good!
how to read this?
well it is specific work for race pace in a volume that might be optimal to get the desired adaptation.
it depends on how the athlete recovers if it was fast enough, too fast, but this seems right
there were 3 400s together at 54.5 and the rest at 56 average which is 324 to 329 pace
it was at altitude
there was no drafting
some runners don't perform their best time trial conditions.
if you followed 2 guys at sea level, you would be talking about 322 to 326 pace.
i buy into Kerr's statement that he's in PR shape.
that wasn't rocket science was it?
Yes I believe Kerr, he is a warrior, a mighty duck warrior at it too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He is unlikely to break Hicham's WR, as I said earlier, this record will stand for all space and all time, hands down, no contestation, it's just the way it is, accept it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hicham is just invincible and unbeatable because the combination of natural whole nutrition and natural whole environments devoid of anthropogenic pollutants 30 years ago also cannot be replicated in 2025 for being way too overpolluted!!!!!!!!!
Accept it, and only can we as a sport move on emotionally, you feelin me right???????
Not every time a WR can be broken, sometimes it simply can't for reasons too superior and perfect to imitate and copy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
it will make a difference if the 90 seconds is at the exact start of the repeat, where he has about 10 seconds to jog into place and go.
i used to do 200 m repeats with jog across the track recovery which was like 120m in 60 seconds. which was very different from 90 seconds. 30 seconds recovery is hard on a person, and its very sharpening, or over do it and you won't race well.
if you're doing high octane intervals, error on the side of safety and do 20% less than you're capable of. this is very dangerous stuff.
im sure he'll be ready when the time comes. and the time is not this week. it's two months from now.
Everyone keeps saying this about Kerr, Hocker and every other top dog athlete who hasn't shown a lot this year. This perspective assumes they are all going to get it right in 2 months time. So what happens if they don't and they blow it? There is only 3 medals up for grabs and only 1 is gold. There are no guarantees, and if these guys are the best, why are they not dominating right now? Everyone else is essentially building for Worlds as well.
This year, we've already seen relative nobodies come out and run all-time fast times and win. The same could happen at Worlds.
But Kerr has run his season's best at the global champs for each of the last 4 years. He peaks perfectly

Yeah sure, but only 1 gold in there and off the podium in 2022, so it doesn't always work out perfectly and there is room for failure. And past performances is not an indication of future performance.

Wait, past performance is not an indication of future performance?! Then what the heck is?
If he was a POC remarking about ‘his crew’ you’d be giving him a tongue bath.
Since last year a couple of us have been following his coach since that weird message he posted on his Instagram. Turns out if you go on his ex Instagram page who died - there seems to be some sort of legal woes for DM again. I am reading between the lines but they are claiming Justice. This is not good for Brooks. I think there is a storm brewing. I hope Josh is able to distance himself. He is too good to get caught up on this and I feel like Julian is really his main "Team/Coach".
What? DM is the coach, Julian is a grifter, riding the coattails of Kerr, he is only there water boy and Kerr's B@@#@, that's about it. Doesn't know anything about actual training. He can cut the guy's hair I guess...
Nick Symmonds was exceptionally accurate in his predictor/pacing workouts and would always hit exactly the pace he claimed, when he was doing workout videos, so I'd give them a lot of credence, at least with regard to what he was capable of. The classic view was that 10x400 on 60s rest or 10x440y on 60s rest was the classic 1500/mile predictor workout. There are others as well, such as 800/400/400 on shorter rest. With two sets of 4x400 on 90s rest, you would think that a 3:27 guy would be capable of averaging 55-55.1. However, Kerr is often running such workouts at altitude and I know from experience that repeat 400s in Albuquerque, as opposed to all out single 400s, are tougher than at sea level.
That's very close to a Kosmin test, which has less recovery and doesn't add up to your mile time, but does predict it accurately through a well-tested formula, based on vast data from the Soviet track program

I dunno, man. A guy who has shown for four years running that he's at his very best in the most important race of the year is a pretty good indicator that he knows what he's doing. The harsh fact is, an athlete can be at their very best, but someone might just be a little better on the day. The margins are tight at the elite level

Otherwise known as 8 x 400 @ world record pace w/ some rest in between if you round up/down a bit. You need make friends with the Devil step by step before becoming BFF's. Kerr is moving in the right direction and should be ready to go in September.
Perhaps at sea level, 60 sec might be more appropriate. This was done at 5,000ft. Seems like a spot on session, in lieu of a race, three months out from the big show. & he "failed" a bit with too hard a push at the end of set 1.
