She needs to take 2 years off, have a family and then come back with fire. Not in the mind set now and she’s done all she needs to. Top of the world. Owes us nothing. Brazier has shown us that a few years off and come back is possible.
Ajee Wilson 1:59 for second. Signs of life for Wilson. Mu 6th in 2:00. Mu ran most of the race in 2nd place before fading down the homestretch and finishing mid-pack. I guess I have to concede she is moving in the right direction from her 2:03 at Pre, but seeing her going backwards in the homestretch doesn't give me optimism about her chances of making the team at USAs.
She opened up at Prefontaine and dropped 3 seconds 1 week later. If she drops 3 more she runs 1:57.
You haven't been paying attention. Athing Mu ran 2:03 at Pre because she ran a lot of the race in lane 2 and then she gave up the last 50 meters and jogged in. She did NOT gain 3 seconds of fitness in the last week.
and, as Spaulding said she did not go immediately to the back.
2:00 in 6th for Athing. She gave a good effort and put herself in good position (2nd behind Maloney), but she faded on the homestretch. She just doesn't have the fitness at this point. At least it was an improvement from Pre.
the 2:00 time was predicted off the last race to 680m ... assuming that with a weeks work she could go another 120 meters at that pace which she did.
the next step is to get a couple of weeks training block in with a 400, maybe in 51 high.
and set up a 158 high 800.
if so, this is the same progression she had before she hit the big time....
and all she has to do is keep at it, and stay healthy.

Importantly, she actually got the US national standard, which I don’t think she had before.
Anybody know? She is registered for USATFs and no sponsor is listed. This is not unique, though; Hurta-Klecker does not have a sponsor listed either. If adidas did drop her, that is an embarrassment. She may be nearing the twilight of her career, but what a career it has been!

Mu had the standard from the Olympic Trials semi and from the Gainesville meet last year. She made the standard for the first time in 2025 ... by 0.08 seconds.

Contracts often go for 4 years, from one Olympics to the next. With the way that Ajee Wilson has been running the past 2 years, I can't blame Adidas for thinking she wasn't going to make it another 4 years.
Mu's performance ties for 709th all time. She's apparently not injured but is completely out of shape and can't hold position in the second half of a race. She's going to continue to get smoked this season and if she doesn't how to figure it out her fitness this year, her career is over. She'll fade into obscurity like so many promising runners.
