I agree, that was a fun interview. Some of my takeaways:
Sounds like Quincy is seriously considering running for Florida. He mentioned texting Coach Holloway, and he said he has friends who will be going there.
Quincy talked about going on a lot of college visits. I wonder if all those visits might be why he hasn't been running faster this year (he ran 45.27 at the Pepsi Relays this year, compared to 45.19 last year; then he ran 45.37 at New Balance Nationals, compared to 45.13 last year). His high school is in Maryland, and lot of the strong track schools he's probably visiting are long trips from there: USC, Oregon, Texas schools, LSU, Georgia, Arkansas, Florida, etc.
Bullis is basically $60k a year. I would guess USC or Stanford - strong academic schools with great programs
USC is obviously a great program while Stanford had a 19.76 sprinter a couple years back
It will be interesting to see where Quincy decides to go. USC would have the advantage of being in the city where the 2028 Olympics will be held, but he seems really close to his parents. Would he want to be on the other side of the country from where they live? Would they relocate to join him where he goes, like Noah Lyles' mother did? They moved 200+ miles from Chesapeake, VA to Gaithersburg, MD so he could go to Bullis.
There's also the question of does he run for any school, or does he choose to go pro directly out of high school like Christian Miller and others? I personally believe phenoms can benefit from at least one year of running in the NCAA, but if he runs under 44 by next summer, he might understandably conclude he's ready to go pro.
I could see him running in the NCAA for one year, but not more than that if he's running times that would put him in contention for a global championship medal. His sophomore year in college would be the 2028 track season, and he might want to prioritize focusing on the Olympics.
Don't know why they both get so many haters on many LRC threads. They're both adorable, and amazing athletes. This was totally entertaining and fun. She's awkward and quirky, but it works for me - and he's much more comfortable and funny than I expected him to be. Good stuff.
I look forward to Parker talking to more track athletes like this.
I'm more interested in when Parker is going to race. Her podcast is great, but we need to see some ROI very soon. Q is great, he brings a great attitude and personality to the sport, but he REALLY needs to change his running mechanics or he'll never run faster than 44 seconds, and he actually will digress as he gets older. He works WAY TOO HARD during his races, his lack of efficiency will only be magnified as he matures.

Quincy Watts' form is what helped him to run 44.20 at age 16.
Even if their ages were reversed? Something tells me there'd pretty significant pedo chants on here if a 22 year old Quincy was a suggested partner for a 17 year old Parker.
Looks like this will be a regular thing. New episode with Paige Sheppard. I want to see her do an episode with Emily Mackay and Heather MacLean ... at the same time.
