Running a 100 miler with a friend. Actually never ran an ultra in my life. Doing this for fun to break up marathon training but want to know what are your go to workouts in the training block? I will be running a 50k before the race.
The 50k is just a marathon with a 5 mile bonus at the end. Easy. Run it flat out, full speed without stopping.
The 100 miler is something totally different. It is mental. And chances are you won't run it all.
For that find the longest worst movie you can find and watch it a few times in a row while the album Drukqs by Aphex Twin plays in your headphones. Don't sleep for two days. And drink an average of one beer ever hour. Ideally on the hour.
Then rest for a week straight and you will be ready.
