where you can clearly see a guy openly heckling Gabby before the start of the race. You just don't see that at track meets.

In my opinion this definitely crosses the line. Sure at basketball or baseball someone might yell at an athlete (on the opposing team) that they are a choke artist but this isn't those sports. Track is more like golf or tennis.

And then this jerk, takes it to another level with him discussing who she married etc. It's all so out of the norm for a track meet.

Via X I found the guy's youtube page where he openly says he was just heckling Gabby, did nothing wrong, and this is what you see at other sporting events where you cheer for the people you like and heckle the others. He says he didn't even do it for the betting reasons (despite his X post) as Gabby was 10/1 to win the 100 and not a factor. He said he's just not a fan of hers. He also says he did not follow Gabby around at the meet as the Guardian headline said.

So where do you draw the line in track? Heckling isn't part of the sport.

I always defend the rights of the fans to be fans but this is too much. Track is an individual sport like tennis and golf and in track there is silence and an amount of decorum expected at times. During an NBA game not as much but I feel like a fan just got kicked out of an NBA game.

We let fans be fans, speculate and debate — even about uncomfortable topics — because we believe free speech generally serves the sport. That doesn’t mean anything goes. We draw the line at certain types of attacks. You can disagree with where we draw the line, but we do draw it.

There’s a big difference between what happens in on here — where ideas can be challenged, debated, or ignored — and a fan standing ten feet from the starting line of a professional race heckling an athlete moments before competition.

So yes I'll defend the right of people to post things on here that athletes do not like while trying to figure out where to call the line on behavior in a different sphere.

But I'm pretty sure I'm against people making personal attacks about her family during a silent moment at a track meet. Just as Lebron had fans kicked out of the Pacers game. Context matters.

First of all, it wasn't a silent moment, you are smart enough (barely) to know that during athlete introductions, which is when this was, the crowd is making all kinds of noise. It's only when "On your mark" when the crowd is to become silent and he was in this case. So, stop the changing of the facts to suit your narrative.

Secondly, you draw the line based on your own feelings and twisted beliefs. You are the POS that started a thread with a fake name to harass, bully and disparage a 16 year old girl, yes I said GIRL, because you have this incomprehensible obsession with transgender athletes. Creating a thread filled with nothing but hate against a child is far worse than a dude in the stands taking the piss out of a professional athlete to get in their head. You are a hypocrite, a bigot, a transphobe and a clown and YOU are the one that should be banned from professional track & field.

Gabby saying that he followed her around is a lie.

I wouldn't do what he did, but respect his right to do it. Ms super model Sports Illustrated swim suit, Met Gala, I love the attention seeking Gabby needs to learn that not everyone will like her and want to drink her bath water, innocent trash talking from the stands comes with the territory and from her reaction at the time, she didn't seem rattled or fearful, she only made up the story later for more attention and thousands of "you're a queen, you go girl, and Gabby is the best" comments.
