AB Hernandez, the 16-year-old transgender athlete out of Jurupa Valley High School in Riverside County, shared a podium in long jump, high jump and triple jump in the CIF state track and field finals Saturday, an image of unity between teenage girls surrounded by angry adults. Hernandez tied for second in long jump at 20 feet, 8¾ inches, tied three ways for first in high jump at 5-7 and tied for first in triple jump at 42-2¾, accompanied by at least one peer on all three podiums. “Sharing the podium was nothing but an honor,” River City High School senior Brooke White told the Chronicle. “Although the publicity she’s been receiving has been pretty negative, I believe she deserves publicity because she’s a superstar, she’s a rockstar, she’s representing who she is.”

Insufficient coverage of women's sports

Mental health issues

Funding

Body shaming

Lack of representation in management roles

RED-S

Training around the menstural cycle

Equal pay

Abusive coaching

Stereotypes about women's capabilities

Funny how it's "the trans issue" that is constantly discussed in the male-dominated LRC and not any of these other things.

Their feminist circles were invaded, bullied and taken over by trans activists in the infamous "Terf Wars." Part of the self-immolation of the western left past 10-20 years

There is no feminist influence in politics outside of trans acceptance. They get canceled

Actually, there are several neutral reasons why men may be more likely to discuss this issue. First, they are less likely to suppress facts in the name of compassion. Second, many men recognize that they shoulder some responsibility for maintaining social norms among boys and men. Some of this is related to point 1.

Consider it a bystander intervention. Some men are not content to sit on the sidelines while fellow boys and men violate the dignity and rights of women and girls.

Many of us, as males, don't like watching other males cheat at sports

The girls are more likely to be brainwashed into being woke, those that aren’t are likely scared of being attacked by the freaks and their violent supporters. Obviously ther trans bunch and their supporters are jealous of and hate real women.

Okay, but what does Lauren think about all this?

These brave girls are just the start.

Good for them. They have a right to protest.

The SF Chronicle should have interviewed all the girls in the same events and asked if their school has limited their speech.

Edit: maybe LetsRun can do some real journalism on this issue by giving a voice to various female athletes.

The SF Chronicle chose to use a girl with a political view that aligns with their views. It's the same technique that Fox News does but with very different politics.

You want a female heroine? A REAL female heroine? That would be the teammates of this boy who would refuse to participate in this charade.

Although I doubt that Mr. "I only ran the mile once in indoor season and my PR is faster than 4:07" is legit... (because if he had... he would have been running the mile more than just "once"...)

It would be kind of interesting to have an actual study to see how much the endocrine treatments alter performance in these MtoF trans athletes.

In 1976 I was 17 and a 2:00 800 runner (on cinder tracks). I won and never made states.

But, if I identified as a girl I would have had a shot at making the USA Women's Olympic team.

These aren't adults getting hormone therapy and surgery. They're high school boys identifying as high school girls.

IMHO- they should opt out of sports. Have you ever noticed that we don't have the problem of girls identifying as boys competing on the boy's team?

This is a problem. It has to be addressed.

Unfortunately, college athletics HAS become a major platform for activism in recent years. More and more, athletes are expected to wear things like rainbow patches or BLM gear...often regardless of their personal convictions. I wish that weren’t the case, but it’s the reality we’re seeing.

Who was the official who took the side of the cheater and manhandled the ladies during their protest?

The courage of those girls is incredible. It may seem like a small thing, but for those teenagers subject to the scrutiny of so many hostile school officials and other "woke" adults, making that small protest took a huge amount of bravery. I live in greater Seattle, have three athlete daughters, and have been watching boys win championships for the last few years in the girls division. And yet, I'm afraid to speak out. Openly holding any opinion in places like this that might be construed as Republican is grounds for ostracization. It's so much easier to stay silent, and that's what the vast majority of people do. On the flip side, those who advocate for the transgender athletes are celebrated.

Anyway, I really respect those two girls for taking a stand. It wasn't easy. It's easy to say things anonymously on a message board, but what they did is incredible.
