Ok, I'll bite: what exactly were you or your son misled about? And the guaranteed $1000 wasn't even originally promised when your son would have decided to participate, as they said they announced that relatively late after they had gotten more funding. So in the off-chance that this whole story isn't BS on your part, deciding to fly out for it was your call and on you.

Ya it wasn't what I expected I thought some low 28 or 27:30 guys would show up. It just wasn't the showing I expected.

I honestly think the 10K is a great event but it should be a road race at the Olympics / Worlds. With Super Shoes, the time difference might be a positive compared to track 10ks.

Please know, we value athlete feedback above all else. I am reaching out to each athlete to get feedback. That said, please have your son call me (he should have my cell from my emails) as I would love to get his thoughts. We always want to know what we can do better.

This is Trevor (event organizer). Jess has a medical incident at around 4k, I am happy to report she walked off of the track with her husband and didn't need further medical attention. Truly heartbreaking to see her go down, glad she is okay. We still are paying her $1,000 prize money even though she DNF.

Just to clarify, our intention was never to compete with or undermine Sound Running. We have a great deal of respect for the work they do and the value they bring to the sport. In fact, we reached out to Jesse before moving forward with our event specifically because we didn’t want to step on any toes. I highly doubt our event had anything to do with their cancellation of the 10,000.

Most importantly, we awarded $44,000 in prize money, real support for professional athletes. I struggle to see how that could be considered as "hurting the 10K".

Happy to continue the conversation, and always open to constructive dialogue that benefits the sport.

I suggested something similar to them. That they hold a community 10K road race in the morning before the track races because a lot of those might stay to watch the track event afterwards. I knew it was too late this year but should be considered in the future. Des wrote to me that it is a great idea but they didn't have the financing this year to put on an expensive road race. I think renting the track the night before may have also been problematic.

Why do you care so much? Athletes at save the 10 made way more money. More opportunities are good for athletes. Why try to tear it down?

There was no pre meet hype around 1 event in Portland. The Meet was about the athletes and not the women putting on the meet.

You can’t be so bold as to title your event Save the 10,000 and then abandon things after ONE race. This appears to have been another LOOK AT ME event and not a legitimate chance to move the needle.
