A well connected source has told me, he thinks Kerley has already been suspended.
The thing I wasn't thinking about in my previous post was the big thing that is different about this arrest is the location - the meet hotel. A fight at the meet hotel would be the equivalent of a fight at work so a suspension does make sense.
But in general, I don't want meets being forced to be the morality police. They don't have the expertise or resources to do that.
This isn't about morality, its about whether your brand and/or your sponsors wants to be associated to his name and this arrest.
Basically the gist is that Alaysha shouted stuff and went to punch Fred. When Fred pushed her off him Alaysha's bf started to fight Fred.
So basically the whole thing was instigated by Alaysha and Fred stood his ground instead of running away from his angry ex. Obviously he should have just ran away but he would have immediately lost the respect of his current girlfriend. So overall it was a tough lose-lose situation.
Either you flee the situation and lose your current gf or you don't flee but risk a fight.
I've long argued sports leagues / colleges, etc. do not have the expertise to be judges and juries. They need to let the criminal court system handle it.
GST let Kerley compete in the Kingston meet after he'd been arrested. How is this any different? The only difference is he'd compete 2 days after the arrest (men's short sprints doesn't start until Saturday) versus 3 months after being arrested, but that might make it even harder to suspend him as there isn't time to get to the facts.
GST has no obligation to let him compete, but without knowing any specifics, I don't have a real problem if they do. They are a sports league, not the morality police.
Update: He's been suspended which is the right gall. I failed to consider two things. 1) This happened at the meet hotel and 2) ITt's a second arrest in months so the odds of both being unwarranted and 'giving him the benefit of the doubt' go down from simple math.
The guys a POS. Hopefully nobody sponsors him after his contract is up

All these brilliant detectives people who were defending Austin Metcalf on the knife situation without all the details. 3 pages in the thread and no one is asking why was hisex and her bf at a meet hotel??
Shouldn't we wait for all the details before casting judgement talking about this is embarrassing etc.

As a black man, I am embarrassed by Kerley and his non-reading ignorant a$. Watching him on The Pivot podcast was a train wreck. The guy has zero redeeming qualities and he's not even fast enough for people to excuse his lack of decorum. I'm not a Noah Lyles fan, but if I have to choose my level of embarrassment, I'll take Noah and his nerdy, try too hard antics over the grunting, neanderthalic behaviors of Fred Kerley. They need to keep him in jail, I'm tired of seeing him act a fool in public.
What didn’t you like about his interview on The Pivot? I thought he came off as authentic and endearing. In the first 10 minutes, he talked about his childhood struggles such as his father going to prison, his mother being on the streets, and his brothers getting arrested.
He says he’d be on the streets if it wasn’t for track, and his primary motivation now is giving a better life to his kids than what he had growing up. That made me want to see him succeed.
Fred has had a hard knock life. Not everyone is as lucky as Josh Hoey to come from a perfect family that has so much money they can build a track on their farm for you.
I feel like Fred was a chill dude and kept his life under wraps (the wife, kids) until his car got stolen. Then it all unraveled. Roid rage finally affecting him?
LRC note: RaesTake has a tweet with the same set of facts we heard. There was a fight between Fred Kerley and the boyfriend of Alaysha Johnson (Kerley's ex-girlfriend) at the GST hotel. The only person who tried to break it up was Johnson and she was struck in the process of the fight. The police came and Kerley and the boyfriend were taken away. Kerley has been dismissed from GST.

As an Angry Brit, I'm struggling to follow the pseudonyms used in this thread.
Would I be correct in assuming Alaysha Johnson goes by the moniker "Hisex", while Fred's current partner goes by "Sky High Baby"?
