I’ve long tapped Kuma Girma as a future stud. Prefer his trajectory/race sense to the guy who gets all the headlines in Biniam Mehary. He tussled with Sime a bit, but still gave Aregawi all he could handle.
Striking the difference on the broadcast between the two fast hurdle races at Grand Slam and the DL. In GST, you've got Anson Henry half-suggesting Russell broke the WR while adding no context. Meanwhile, within seconds in the DL, Hannah England is telling me Tinch is tied for 4th all-time. Even more impressive because his time was rounded down shortly after the finish.
Two Diamond League events and the best performance so far has been 22.38 for the W200m. Puts into perspective the time that TCU freshman India Mayberry ran indoors at NCAAs (22.30). It was #7 all-time indoors and #2 all-time US indoors.
That result from quincy hall was predictable. Very injury prone. We've likely seen the best he has to offer. burned brightest when it counted.
I mean, he also medalled in 2023. And it's pretty hard to run faster when your pb is already 43.40.
The good thing is that he's racing but I'm not sure it was a smart decision for him to go all the way to China for this race when he clearly isn't in good shape right now. But like Thoughtsleader said, he was probably paid nicely for it...
The finish of that men's 5000 was incredbile, Girma and Sima really pushed Aregawi there, definitely two guys two watch out for
Girma and Sime (not Sima) are both 19 years old. By comparison, Nico Young is 22 and Graham Blanks is 23. Aregawi is 24. The two Ethiopian teens will both be medal contenders in 2028 if not sooner. I wonder if Kuma Girma is related to Lamecha Girma.

Does the Flotrack feed have interviews with the winner of each race? I'm watching the Australian feed, and another big difference I've noticed is the Australian feed doesn't have post-race interviews with the winners.

Kuma Girma has already run a 7:31 3000 and a 26:58 road 10K. At age 19. What a great prospect.

for sure, it'd be difficult to not take advantage of that gold medal money.
just be careful. But If he's been training for 8-9 weeks, this could very well have been a good time to take a down week and get in a race anyway.
