The Daily Mail is a tabloid that prints a lot of garbage. If your so uncomfortable with that fact, you have serious issues. Go back to your fantasy dream world.
In less than 100 days, American tourism numbers from just about ever place on earth, including heretofore very USA-loving countries like Canada and the UK, have plummeted. The OGs are based on foreign tourism, which is the main driver of the ad revenue that supports the whole enterprise.
With the spectacle of random imprisonment and unlawful deportation of foreign grad students and other immigration-related horror stories, and with your secretary of state putting out warnings that people who "don't not support our values" cannot expect a friendly welcome at the border, wouldn't YOU be panicking a little if you were planning a major international sporting event on US soil in less than 4 years? What are the odds of the above described situation become better rather than worse in the near term? The smart money would be pulling out of the LA Games while the pulling is good.
The US isn't China, which knew its reputation would require unprecedented state financial backing in order to pull off a successful games. People planning on coming to the US do not expect to be visiting a paranoid, divided, and heavily armed authoritarian state, which is what they might be facing by 2028.
P.S. The fact that the first place you minds go when you consider this problem is to your own insane, partisan, and completely incomprehensible to anyone else culture wars is revealing in itself.
If these games are in trouble, do you really think it's because of Gavin Newsom, or the fact that they're in California? The way things are going, there's nowhere in the country where they'd have a hope of succeeding financially.

You're still refusing to get it. While everything you say about LA may be true, it's irrelevant. Increasingly, no one wants to visit your country for ANY reason, and this looks set to get get worse under the current regime. Whether or not Americans understood the meaning of the term, they voted for isolationism last November. This is what it looks like.
You can't be braying about putting your country first, renouncing all commitments to the stability of the global order, and casting aspersions on some of your erstwhile closest international friends and allies (apparently, in exchange for closer relations with fetid human right sinkholes like Israel, El Salvador, and Hungary) and then expect foreign tourists to flock to your expensive international sporting events. By 2028 there could well be an organized movement to boycott the LA Games entirely. This would not be a difficult sell even at this early stage. Maybe you can get Israelis, Hungarians, or German AfD supporters to fill the gaps (Salvadorans, we know, will be politely declined, notwithstanding their county's great contribution to M@GA).
