Have you seen Jane run and/or understand what 9:20 pace is at 600m, which is what she is aiming for? She’ll pass through 600 under 1:45 while some of the best mentioned will be closer to 1:52 that’s half a straightaway almost already.
I think it’s time for LV’s record to go down!!! Any of those five have a shot at it. If one of the slower dudes runs pace at 4:10-15 for the first mile and then sacrifices himself and jogs it in, it could happen.
I was wondering why Arcadia wouldn't just go ahead with the two mile for the boys too. What is more impressive, 55 boys break 9:00 for two miles and a national record goes down or 70 boys break 9:00 for 3200 and no national record is broken because of the 3200 distance? As stated earlier, the timing system will likely still get the 3200m split.
With the five sub-4 boys, I think we can see the record fall.
What is the over/under on number of kids who break 8:40 in this race?
2.5?
That was supposed to say 7.5! Too late to edit, sorry.
Do you take the over or the under on 7.5 kids breaking 8:40?

Over. 5 sub 4 guys. Guys like Spencer, Noonan and Evans improved a good amount. Hopefully there is someone who pushes the pace because they have a good chance at LVs NR. With Vause and the others I could see it maybe reaching 10 sub 8:40 this year.
Why is this not a 2mile? they could still have a timing system at 3200m
Because Rich Gonzalez doesn't think it sounds as good if the announcer keeps saying for each boy "And another boy gets a sub 9 split."
Rich Gonzalez is only making an exception for Jane Hedengren because the chance of her breaking the national record is very high.
This is really frustrating because I think the chance of a boy breaking the national record is actually also quite high. Maybe not as high as Hedengren (although 9:38 is not guaranteed, especially if she goes out in 4:40 and blows up), but with multiple 7:50s and 3:50s guys in the field, 8:29 is on the line to be broken.
sub two final 800 for the winner of the boys race calling it right now
Sub 9 3200 for the winner of the boys race calling it right now.
They always close in sub 2. It's really sad that it always goes out in 60 flat then slows down. First mile in 4:20 and then they speed up the final 800. Often well under 60 for the final 400.
They will for sure close sub-2 lol, I just hope that this year open much faster than last year. If I am remembering correctly Griffith and Simmons came through at about 4:24 for the first 1600 split. With a field like this one I would love to see someone take it out in 4:17 or faster! either way this is going to be an amazing race
