Depends on your definition of faster I guess. The 'winning' time at my local parkrun is usually 15:xx most weeks and the majority of decent club runners that I know run parkrun on at least a semi regular basis. So I don't think it's accurate to say its something that only slower runners do.
I didn’t say it’s something only slower runners do, just that it isn’t targeted to fast runners. You’ll always get fast runners turning up even if it isn’t designed to be competitive, but at its core it’s simply meant to be a fun run.
I also know fast runners who go regularly and treat it as a tempo session, but personally I’d rather just enter RunThrough events since you can enter them for free if you can hit their elite times (which are soft), and it’s an actual race environment with a medal at the end
