I disagree. I don't follow ski jumping, but I did watch livestream of all the cross country skiing events at the same FIS World Championships in Trondheim this past week. There were nearly 100,000 people watching the men's 50K on Saturday. The events were a big deal in winter sport, especially in since it was held in Norway. These ski jumpers didn't make their own suits—the suits were issued them by the Norwegian national team—so this is state-sponsored cheating. It's a topic definitely worth pointing out on the message board.
It's pretty obvious that he left the title vague so people would think it had something to do with their running team.
Guilty, but I posted it under non-running. So if you have the running filter on, you never see this thread. But it is relevant to running in my mind. Sort of kills the idea that only rogue people cheat. Here you have national team coaches doing it.
Only a matter of time before they find illegal alterations in the Norwegian track uniforms. Jakob likely has some microscopic glycogen and heart rate control electrode wires that he’s hiding under that singlet, which is in turn adjusted when need be an AI program on a drone flying 500 feet above the stadium and taking additional input from his team of Norwegian scientists hiding in a white van in the stadium parking lot.

Of course it was Nordic Worlds. Shame on y'all for living under a rock.

It's made the front page of AP News now. Both DQed athletes are Olympic champions. Article explains how the suits are approved and RFID chipped after which they cannot be manipulated, but fabric was added that increased the surface area of the suits afterwards in the crotch. Norway was caught by video from a whistleblower because you couldn't see the manipulation until the crotch seams were disassembled.
Jumpers, like middle distance and distance runners, are obsessed about their weight. As a group, they were so unhealthy the FIS created a BMI rule. Still, it's very low and you won't see a jumper crushing a greasy pork offal burrito at the local shady mexican food truck.
The suits are regulated too, can't have a BASE jumping squirrel suit after all. They all use the same fabric and are indeed tailored. Certainly teams push the limits. It's not epo that "everyone " is taking, but it is cheating. It's not bringing 100 inhalers per athlete to Worlds, which I would call doping, or claiming your massage therapist was using 6 tubes of a of steroid cream on his finger cut...
But it was not just two jumpers. Yesterday, numerous Norwegian skijumping profiles admitted to the national news agency NRK that they were equally guilty of intentional cheating in their day, arguing that "everyone does it". The latter claim is probably right. But to continue to claim an inate ethical superiority in Norwegian sports, as many here and elsewhere often have, is a dead end.
This thread will now die, because the taboo topic of inhalers has been brought up.
Since likely 90% of you have "asthma" 😂
If you can already run a sub 17 minute 5k before being "treated", you don't have asthma that needs medical intervention.
Can't agree with that last sentence. I had a teammate who was a 52 / 4:26 / 15:40 guy – one meet he forgot to take his inhaler he had an attack right after crossing the finish line, and we had to stay with him on the floor for a few minutes to make sure he was fine.
Not doubting that a lot of people use it to dope though.

Right. now it's 9 people, 4 or 5 jumpers and some coaches. (!) for the remainder of the year, The FIS is keeping all suits from all teams in their possession and handing them out 1/2 hour before the competition, then they must be returned within 1/2 hour after the competition.
