Yes he ran at least 4 800's in 2024 (4 made it to his WA page) while training with Empire Elite. 1:51.8, 1:49.5, 1:48.1, 1:54.1.
Truth is we have no idea what the jump came from. I've known many D1 runners who stagnated in college for a variety of reasons. Liked to party, didn't fuel properly, burnt out and were just going through the motions at practice. Could be any reason under the sun.
If he was competing with a pro group for 2 years after graduating college that should have counted against his eligibility as outside competition. This would be his 7th year.
His eligibility is equally as suspicious as his sudden improvement.
blame the ncaa for that. They are terrified to rule anyone ineligible these days for fear of getting sued. They have lost every lawsuit over eligibility that has gone to court. Juco years no longer count towards your eligibility either.
Guy ran like 1:55 and 4:19 in high school in 2018. Did 5 years (!!!) at Marist and only ran 1:54 and 2:30. Started training with Empire Elite the last couple years, got down to 1:48, guess he's doing grad school at NC State? Ridiculous result, I have no idea what to think of it to be honest but good for him I guess.
I believe Guy ran during undergrad at Fordham.
His 1:48 should hold up as the all time family record.
Maybe, if she is nice to him, he will share some training secrets with his sister on improving 400/800 speed.
Did he race at all between Jan 20, 2023 (when he ran the mile in 4:27) and Jan 31, 2025?

Ok, the big jump happened last year. he has “only” improved from 1:48.1 to 1:46.9 this year

Seems that we are one year late on this thread
Of course, a 1:48.1 guy was expected to make this final
Nice improvement in the final, but after the amazing jump last year, you would expect him to improve a little again this year
Fordham's not exactly an elite program. It's understandable to use this stunning improvement to call out the tuohy stans who pollute the board with constant doping accusations that are unfounded and apparently prompted by anyone beating her times, high school, college, or pro. However, you can understand how someone who gets pro coaching and teammates as an adult would drop a ton of time with very different training methods.
PR of 1:54 for a kid who ran seriously for 9 years. Then he drops from 1:54 to 1:46 over 6 months.
He is same age as Hoey who dropped less than 1/2 that amount and everyone accused him.of doping. That means Tuohy's odds are twice those for Hoey. If Hoey is 50%, Tuohy is 100%.
Does no-one know how he is still competing? Even if the NCAA is "scared to rule anyone ineligible" he still has to have some justification. This is his 5th indoor season. I forget... did 2020 indoor not count against eligibility? Regardless... you get 5y to complete 4 seasons... maybe 6 with Covid. I see no indication of a mission, pregnancy, major injury or military service to extend that further... though could be wrong.

Everyone in the ncaa got an additional year due to Covid whether they competed during Covid or not. That he’s running a 5th year isn’t strange. Thousands of kids are running a 5th year this year for the same reason.
the only strange thing with his case is the gap between competing from 2023-2025.

You are not very good with dates or math I guess I see 1:54.8 4/1/22 1:51.8 i 2/10/24 1:48.16 8/12/24 and now 1:46.9 i 3/3/25

He's returning to a New England prep school next year for 'post high school studies', then will re-enter college scene at a NESCAC D3 school.
Come on. You are the most reasonable Tuohy fans. Forget about his name and evaluate him objectively. This is the most suspicious thing we have seen in quite a while. And he didn't get pulled to this with a bunch of pacers. He was leading in a championship race which means he may be able to go even faster. Some top pros ran this time at US Championships.

I have made no comment as to suspicious or not (or as to his eligibility). I have merely posted what times he has run.

His drop is like a college woman graduating at 15:42 and running 14:45 a year later. If you are referring to someone dropping a minute over 10 years with bouncy shoes being invented and bicarb and new tracks, that is not even a very impressive improvement.
