You could of removed that last part. I think working with Luluman is good move and more runners should consider working with non-shoe brands for sponsors.
Nike is probably telling Mike Smith that he can't keep athletes after renewing agreements which makes business sense. Plus Nikki didn't run at NAU so the ties aren't as much as his other athletes Mike is training.
As Grant Fisher and others have shown once you have a foundation as a pro runner, you need some guidance and someone to monitor training but you don't need a specific coach anymore. Nikki knows what is needed to be at the top level in the US and make teams.

I have a feeling this is a control thing - Nikki is big into trans advocacy and with just Benson they can control who works out with them, but as part of a Nike team it's out of Nikkis hands, and there are a lot of athletes, especially women, who have a MAJOR issue with trans participating in sports.
Dont be rude Coach Cornfield. Also that does not really apply to Nikki who is biologically female and always has been.

Actually Grant proved Jerry is outdated and one way or the Highway. Grant is not more specific with a new coach. This is why he’s more successful now
