Watching the indoor nationals got me thinking about how off the grid she is. Every year she basically jumps indoor nationals , world championship , outdoor nationals, world championship and the prefontaine and other than that just low key college meets. She hardly competes in Europe, rarely posts on social media and her wiki page has almost no personal information. She has. Done that for 10 years now. I’m not saying its wrong, just odd to have such a low key presence in the sport where you need to generate a following.
she has shown no real improvement in years. might be too late but she should leave dad and find a new coach. have to think if t wasn't for the family name she would not have a contract for how little she competes.each year.

Despite the down votes of this poster, I have been thinking of the same thing for years. She has stagnated and wasn't she AT LEAST a 6' 04 high jumper in high school and yet she's not CONSISTENTLY much higher 10 years later.
For such a low profile, how did she become a Red Bull athlete? I don't she is still with them. Her development went nowhere. It seemed as if she was poised for world class. Not competing in Europe and not leaving her father-coach showed a certain limiter to her career.
Because Red Bull was to gender specific for Nikki Hiltz?
The fact that VC keeps winning US titles shows just how PATHETIC US high jumping has become. I'm old enough to remember the ladies of the 1980s, and they'd tear the current crop a new one with how pathetic they are on the world stage. Last good one we had was Chaunte Lowe. Same thing on the men's side in the US. Pathetic.

Exactly I remember backing the 1980s to early 2000's when we had at least one American woman CONSISTENTLY over 6,-6 1/2 to 6-7 every year and at least one American man over 7-8 1/2 to 7-9 consistently without super spikes and advanced runways and tracks....
Now with advanced technology the high jumpers and long jumpers ALL has gotten worse. Carol Lewis was jumping 23 feet and Jackie Joyner 24 feet and High school girls were long jumping 22 foot. Today we can barely get one or two of our best women over 22-9 every year

This post is pretty accurate. The U.S. top ten performances are dominated by 2010-2013 athletes, Lowe and Barrett mainly, with the record 2.05m from Lowe, and Cunningham's 2.02m is tenth. There were many 2m+ performances from the 1980s to the early 2010s. Cunningham's 2.02m was four years ago now. A ray of hope is a collegian, Rachel Glenn of Arkansas, who jumped 2.00m last year. As far as improvement goes, I get the sense often that this is an event where a lot of Americans get close to the their peak in high school or college. Remember the Bahamian Donald Thomas. At least Cunningham's stuck with it all these years. But the U.S. clearly needs some investment in the jumps again.

I don't think I will ever get over Emily Infeld out-leaning peak Molly Huddle for a medal. Emily had a good career but wow... that one probably still stings.

The women’s HJ is pathetic.
The men? Didnt we just have a silver medalist in 2024, and another silver medalist at Budapest the year before? We had an updated gold medalist in 2012. Perhaps the depth isnt as deep as some think it should be, but the men arent sinking like the women have been.
OTOH, Vashti is ranked #7 which seems about right. The problem is depth on the women's side - next up is Rachel Glenn at #22 and then Rogers and Hufnagel at #40 / #41.
