Today I talked to the guy who runs the local housecleaning service I use. He said he's lost workers as a result of the immigration crackdown. Because he doesn't have enough workers anymore, he's now having to turn down housecleaning jobs. He said a friend of his is having the same problem with his landscaping business. They can't find workers.
Then he should raise his price. The housekeeping market is out there as lazy sloppy homeowners are willing to fork out the higher price. Quite be bitchy and start being smarter.
Information obtained by Fox News Digital shows that in the 33 hours between midnight Jan. 21 and 9 a.m. January 22, ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations arrested more than 460 illegal immigrants with criminal histories of sexual assault, robbery, burglary, aggravated assault, drug and weapons offenses, resisting arrest, and domestic violence. Agents arrested nationals from a slew of countries, including Afghanistan, Angola, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Senegal and Venezuela.
Fear of increased ICE raids have already negatively affected the nation’s agricultural sector, causing alarm that food prices could skyrocket in the near future as a result of Donald Trump’s aggressive immigration policies.
Bakersfield, California, saw a massive drop off in the number of field workers showing up for work last week after Border Patrol agents in unmarked Chevy Suburbans rounded up and detained immigrants in the area, profiling individuals they believed to be field workers, reported CalMatters. The end result: acres of unpicked oranges roasting in the California sun at the height of the season.
Higher business costs --> Higher prices for consumers --> Inflation --> =(
I would be OK with inflation if every illegal left this country and the Mexico border was fully secure. At least something good came from it(country would finally feel more first world).
Instead I got Sky high inflation due to ineffective and over reactive year long covid shutdowns by draconian leftist policy makers that required trillions ofndollars of money to be printed to pay relief checks to all the laid off workers and sketchy ppp loans.
☝️No more cheap labor with the illegals. Now these business owners are going to have to pay real wages to attract American citizens. 😉

Which means that Trump and Elon and Vivek and Bezos and Zuckerberg, etc will have to pay 54$ per week to have their mansions cleaned. oh the horror!! Shows how easily the Oligarchs become out of touch
Businesses reap all the benefits of illegal immigration without dealing with any of the costs. Society is the one burdened with the costs, which are often left out of the discussion on the impact of illegal immigration.
And when we talk about costs, why is the focus only on financial costs? What about the cost of overcrowding in schools (and disproportionately more focus on poor-performing students or those that don't speak English well) on quality of education or in hospitals on responsiveness and quality of care? Or the cost of crime and traffic accidents? Or the cultural impact of bringing in masses, mostly from the underdeveloped world, that don't assimilate or care to?

“Unfortunately, the real minimum wage is always zero, regardless of the laws, and that is the wage that many workers receive in the wake of the creation or escalation of a government-mandated minimum wage, because they lose their jobs or fail to find jobs when they enter the labor force. Making it illegal to pay less than a given amount does not make a worker’s productivity worth that amount—and, if it is not, that worker is unlikely to be employed.” ― Thomas Sowell, Basic Economics: A Citizen's Guide to the Economy
For example, nobody has a job taking your order at McDonalds anymore.
