Hey idk, there could be a chance. Salvadon could rip a killer 800M I bet. Back when Sumner ran 61.25 he solo'd and won by like 3 seconds, went on to run 45 and 1:48 throughout the HS season, and then 1:46.5 in a pro race nearly breaking the HS record. And Sumner practically never ran the 800M before that

I guess there is a chance but he's only run 2:00 so far (last year). Let me see a 1:50 before we start talking about 1:45 or whatever.
It's strange, Salvadon's PR's say he should be running 1:44 lol. He went 46.4 last year with a wind-aided PR of... 21.89(?) in the 200. Watch a video of his block starts from last year. If I saw that without context I would assume he was already a 400/800 guy.
Also I wouldn't say Sumner "never ran" the 800 before his senior year, he was runninglane champion with a huge kick his junior year, and had touched it several times before that as well iirc, but it isn't really reflected online because of Covid and stuff.
Sumner was a different breed though. 45.7, 61.2, 1:15.5, 1:46.5 and almost certainly could have run 20.9 based on his indoor v outdoor times. He could just do it all.
Salvador, so far is a 200M 400 up to 500 guy, why people think he is an 800M or even would be, is beyond me. And also, why would hem how many guys did we ever have that really ran the 400-800? Not relay 400's only, Mark Everett 44.x 1:43.x? 44.22 at 16 by Wilson is absurd. Off this showing Salvador can probably get to sub 45 outdoors. 800M from this? There is no shown link to that yet.
Spot on Kinger. Salvadon, a total BEAST, is a 400m guy with range from 200-600m.
1:00.49 is ridiculously fast. An incredible performance.
(With Wilson doubling back from Thursday night, this 1:02.49 is terrific. Probably has a 1:01.5 in him right now. Mid January).
Scotty, I may have made a mistake on Wilson running night before..can someone confirm that and no excuses, but as small as Wilson is, he seemed to get inordinately bothered by slight contact and cut in by Salvadon, the gap was immediate and never closed, just is. no excuses. Wilson is running 600 at Millrose, I will fortunately be there, my first visit back to Millrose, since the meet moved to Armory , a place I have been to more than double digit times, but not for Millrose.
This might be more impressive than anything Quincy ever ran.
60.4 is good (understatement) but 44.22 at 16 is really damn good (also understatement)
When did he run 44.22? I also seem to recall a 44.22. What is really impressive about a 16 year old is this:
45.13 - June 13, 2024
44.66 - June 21, 2024
44.59 - June 23, 2024
44.94 - June 24, 2024
44.20 - July 19, 2024 (1st place vs Bryce Deadmon in 44.23)
The foolish Team USA coaches should have run Quincy in the opening round of the 4x400 Mixed Relay in Paris. That would have made much more sense and likely would have resulted in a US gold in that event. Instead they ran the same team both days and took silver. Quincy likely would have run much faster as the mixed relay was an early event.
There was ZERO contact between Andrew and Quincy. Andrew simply ran the tangent to the pole while Q kept in his lane and overreactef to suddenly seeing Andrew in front of him.
Quincys bad race was set up by running a likely PR for 100m on an indoor track and tied up like hostage as both of them ran close to PRs at 200, but Andrew did so on more even splits.
Wilson is clearly trying more aggressive starts (as per his 600 last week) but it didn't work when under pressure from a hot competitor. Let's see if he goes back to the methodology that brought him his fame.

Whoops, you are right. I was thinking of 44.20 - not sure why I said 44.22, I guess I was thinking of Bryce Deadmon or something.
The team USA coaches were going to run Quincy in the opening round of the mixed 4x400. That is what the race in Gainesville was for - it was a race between Bryce and Quincy for that spot, and Quincy won. Unfortunately, he pulled his hamstring the day before the race was supposed to go off, so Bryce ran in his place instead. It is also the reason why he ran 47.x on his leg in the 4x400 when he did run.
Just a hunch, since I really don't know, but I am betting that QW's training is going as planned. Everything is directed toward a blistering outdoor 400m season. Everyone wants to pick off QW, since he is the top dog. Right now that does not matter. QW's coach does not care. All the super fast starts confirm my hunch.

Also, I've heard from a few people that he's been injured for the past month. No clue how true that is but this is letsrun so I can say whatever I want.
