I think that the weight is more important. So let‘s say we have a 6‘5 Runner with really long legs, who is injury free and weighs only 155-160 pounds, which is not much for being that tall, than he would have a advantage because his stride is really long (given that he has a good running efficiency). But if he would weigh 185-200 pounds, which is quite normal at this height, than it would be a disadvantage. He prob wouldnt win olympic medals but would be able to be at the top in his country. I mean there are a very few examples of really Fall pro runners in the past…
6"5 and quite lean, but 180 pounds. I'm too heavy for trail races, road marathons and super hilly xc ski races. My best results have come in cycling time trials where my build is actually an advantage.
Bolt was an outlier? he was a terrible starter (relatively speaking)...absolutely do to his height and long limbs.
