We won the mountain from the Indians so we should get to name it whatever we want. Maybe the Indians shouldn't have brought bows and arrows to a gun fight.
From the same person who thinks your gun will protect you from a government tank.
Sorry a bit off topic, but it's not just me that thinks this, because plenty of other patriots do as well. I am way more nimble than a tank; I could easily out maneuver it, climb up the turret, and disable the operator. I could also throw a giant metal rod in the treads and stop it in its tracks..no pun intended.
This is off the rails now. Unrenaming things /keeping to the names people gave them who lived near them for generations ties us to history in a good way. Denali is a great name.
I would be more excited about the English names if they were based on a cool story or an explorer climbing to the summit or something like that. But the majority are just famous politicians or nobles or rich expedition sponsors who aren't bad-ass or even connected with the mountain.
If you name a mountain after a guy who died exploring the peak, fine. But if you name it after your rich uncle, that is just lame.
In that case, you’d have to call it Mount Harper, the first man to summit Denali. He died in a shipwreck at the age of 26 along with his wife on his way from SE Alaska to Seattle (ultimately he was heading to Philadelphia for medical school). He does have a glacier on the mountain named for him.

Natives have historically been to scared to climb big peaks because they are scared of evil spirits that live at the top. Just like with Everest, we had to drag a Sherpa up there to show all of them there wasn't anything to be scared of. Now they are living the good life because of us.

Walter Harper (1893 – October 25, 1918) was a mountain climber and guide of mixed white and Alaska Native ancestry. On Saturday, 7 June 1913, he was the first person to reach the summit of Denali (Mount McKinley), the highest...

Harper was part native.
Well if he was 100% native he wouldn't have done it. Believe it.
I'm surprised Mt. Rainier hasn't been renamed to "Tacoma" yet. I support using the local name over the western name as this helps raise awareness of a local culture and the spiritual beliefs surrounding a mountain.
They definitely won't re-name Mt. Rainier to "Tacoma". The local Native American name for the mountain is "Tahoma". If they do decide to re-name the mountain, Tahoma will be the name.
We have seen this movie before. In 2016, Trump promised that he would build the wall and make Mexico pay for it. He promised to bring back all the manufacturing jobs. These were all empty promises that Trump made just to get elected. When he then took office, he just got massive tax breaks for the wealthiest Americans and corporations and did little else. He was able to get away with that by constantly feeding the media (legacy and social) with a new outrage every week. By constantly shifting the focus away from his inability to actually deliver on anything he promised, Trump was able to keep his base happy by constantly owning the libs.

Wrong...except the part about me being happy him constantly owning the libs

I'm not much of a PRoy fan, but his post was substantially correct.
