It would provide us with great strategic access to the Arctic, which will be a geopolitical hot spot in the next few decades. The more I think about this, the better an idea I think it is. Brilliant Trump.
I posted this before... My son plays middle school basketball and I have seen the Trump golden shoes on like 5 players at this point. Some kids think they are cool. Not fat redneck kids, either. I don't care enough to look, but I bet he is selling more of these and you and I think. This is not a defense of Trump or whatever stupid thing he said about Canada, just funny that kids are wearing his shoes to play ball.
'fat redneck kids'. Keep on keeping on, Democrats. You'll never win again.
I say we only take them if they agree to be like Puerto Rico or Guam - with no voting representation in the House or Senate.
Give them citizenship and free trade but we don't need a 2nd California state where every political meeting begins with a land acknowledgement. I think the Canadians will be fine with it as they won't have to be ruled by Trudeau and they can't complainn too much as they don't have any nukes.
After having watched that video, I've changed my mind. The Canadians are way too beta. I'd much rather have Mexico as a new territory - much more machismo. ;)
PS. I love my Canadians - one of my favorite Cornell runners is Canadian.
It would be an enormous project converting all the Canadians and their systems into U.S. citizens, but I think we should do it for strategic global and financial reasons.
Just think about that one Canadian "runner" we know. It would be really hard to bring him up to speed to a proper training regiment.
About as hard as bringing you up to speed on what “regiment” means?

I think these kids realize that had not Trump not chosen to be a baseball player... there is no doubt he would have been the the best high school basketball player in New York State... would have been an All American in college.... and would have been an NBA superstar.... while moonlighting as the top money winner in the PGA during the off season.
He also said "tariffs are a tax that you can charge to other countries, believe me". So, put however much value you want in what he tells you about annexing Canada lol.
Trump will continue to say outrageous things and his followers will eat it up. Remember: this is a convicted felon, adulterer, scam artist, liar, rapist who sells the bible.
Greg, you're Canadian so I don't blame you for not following the news closely but here's important context on why Trump is a "convicted felon" - he committed a single misdemeanor, which the Democrats turned into 34 felonies by itemizing each check, changing the rules with "novel legal theories," and infringing on his civil liberties.
A majority of Americans saw right through this abuse of power by their own government.
Who cares if it was itemized into 1 or 34 felonies. He still committed the crimes. And he's facing zero consequences for any of them.
In future, we will see the borders between the U.S., Canada, and Mexico disappear just as they have more or less in Europe. Canada will be appealing because of its highly educated populace, mineral wealth, access to the Arctic Ocean, and the opening up of a great deal of fertile soil and temperate climate through global warming. Mexico will be appealing because it will help with the current demographic cliff, it will enrich Mexico, and it will lessen the enormous expense and hassle of border security, the drug trade, and pressure to emigrate. As Mexico's income increases, the disparities between countries will be reduced, and this will be a large global trading bloc with power to counter Europe and Asia.
