Boise and CDA seem to rarely go to Simplot, especially since Spokane got their new track. Despite being in Idaho, it has a bigger draw from Utah and Wyoming than it does from western and northern Idaho.
Plus Idaho overall has a pretty weak indoor track turnout since Boise State got rid of theirs.
To add, keep in mind American Fork and even Timpview are actually a little closer to the Simplot meet than the Boise area schools. CDA is a 7.5hr drive.
It’s sad to think about the impact this has had on club coaches and the money they could make during the indoor season in Idaho back when there was a track in Nampa.
But in turn Idaho XC and track is as good as ever despite not having much indoor track now, pretty shocking.

how come none of the top talent in Idaho are going to race the simplot games 3200? Big names from other states are going to be there like Charlie Vause, Kaden Evans and Jase Burton. Is there a different meet in idaho they are going to?
Not a great start for Idaho in the 3200s, at least for the boys.
Cody Lucas 9:31 to miss finals by 2 spots. Next fastest Idaho boy is Jackson Porter in 9:54, which is a huge result for someone who ran 10:08 during last outdoor season.
Girls side looks better. Rocky's Hallie Heemeyer and Eagle's Betsey Reeder get 9th and 10th respectively, running 11:27 and 11:33.
Reeder's PR is 11:08, so it seems like she's close to that fitness already, and Heemeyer's official PR is listed at 11:37, but she has run 10:54 at their HOKA 3200.
Stadtlander and a few others in the 1600's coming up in a few minutes.

Ammon Bitton was the second Idaho boy in 9:46.
Final surge gives Lucas a 9:15, Bitton a 9:30, and Porter a 9:38 on their altitude converter. Chamberlain’s converts to 9:43, VandAhlen, Tuft and Culpepper convert to 9:46-9:48. Ben Hugaboom converts to 9:53. Not at all bad days.

Probably need to pump the brakes on guys having bad days when you factor in the altitude conversions. There's a decent chance we see Sheesley, Lucas, Stadtlander, Knutsen, Goggins, Thomas, Tuft, Porter, VanDahlen, Chamberlain, Jensen, Culpepper, Jones, Burdick and maybe a couple of other boys break 9:30 this spring. All from one district. Also keep in mind that most of these guys ran their first race of the year at Simplot Games. If they could run another 3200 next week they may run 5-10 seconds faster just by racing again.
That's after graduating Heemeyer, Ringert, Helder, Kemper, and Chamberlain and losing Ihmels. Only 9 boys did it last year. A lot will graduate next year but we'll probably see a higher number of sub 9:30 boys returning in Tuft, Porter, VanDahlen, Chamberlain, Culpepper, and possibly guys like Hugaboom and Bruce.
Reminder that 16 boys are returning in that district that are sub 10 and 43 total in the state. There will be way more next year. There's already 16 returners in the state if you factor in altitude conversions and 3k conversions.

That’s pretty generous considering that the treasure valley is ~2800’. The altitude isn’t as big of a factor as it would be if you were coming up from sea level.

That's Pocatello to sea level. I'm assuming that Rocky, Eagle, Mountain View, and Boise will all get to sea level at least once this year so all of those times are feasible.
Also Alex Rushton, an ID athlete, is in the lead for high jump at 6'10. That's pretty cool.
Great run for Knutsen! Taylor @ 4:57 and Stadtlander @ 4:09 also great times at altitude. North Idaho boys looked good this weekend as well, nice PRs for Zack and Wyatt in the 3000m.

CDA shows they are still the kings of Idaho and will be next year as well.
3k returning marks: 8:33, 9:01, 9:01, 9:05, 9:14.
The best returning marks for Simplot converted down to sea level and for 3k: Bitton- 8:52 Porter- 8:58 Chamberlain- 9:02 VanDahlen- 9:06 Tuft- 9:07 Culpepper- 9:07
Granted, the NIDP guys have run more than just one race, but even if you guessed at 10 seconds per runner, it's still a big gap.

The CDA guys have also always traditionally done an indoor season because of their proximity to Washington. Obviously this doesn't apply to their freshman (except the ones who did it in middle school), but I imagine that they have something of an advantage compared to the valley guys who have trained through Simplot and many of whom are debuting on the Indoor circuit (on a wooden track I should add).
Considering that the CDA boys have also raced a couple times like you've mentioned, I really don't think those marks mean much in relation to anyone except for themselves in the past.
