Commenting on age on this particular thread IS calling them an age cheat since this whole thread is about that. But OK let's take Ogilvie, he's less than a month too old by your calculations. Is this something that should be a big deal? Don't we have bigger problems then calling out a sophomore who isn't even competing due to injury I believe an "age cheat"?
Look, I'm just trying to add to the discussion because people seemed a little mislead. If I happen to post on the wrong thread I'm sorry I offended you. The kids aren't "age cheats" unless they faked their birth certificates. I never said the were. The rules don't preclude you from holding your kid back a grade (there are limits, but I don't know them). But I do think one or two of the birthdays on the list would be considered redshirts,, which was being debated in this thread so I commented on that.
I have nothing against these kids. I have kids of my own around a similar age so I happen to know the topic. One of my daughters is an August 08 birthday. She is currently a junior. I don't think we enrolled her early, but I could be forgetting. There are Sophomores at her school who are older than her. I couldn't care less one way or another. I only really know because she plays club soccer. And soccer uses birth years. So once they get into high school you notice things like this.
My kids don't run track or cross country and I have no stake in this debate. I don't know the kids involved. I dont really care one way or the other.
