regarding sprint vs distance
its not exactly like that its
sprint long sprint middle distance longmiddle long ultra
for the mid of 600, what's that? in relation to 400 and 800
with running start the WR is
8.6 for 100
9.1 for 200
10.5 for 400
12.5 for 800
13.8 for 1600
Men's 600m
alltime-athletics.com/index.html
shows no 400m men in the list, but 45 400 guys that run the 8.
which makes sense totally.
that said, what 400 sprinter would want to run 600, when they have mastered extending their sprint to make it in total death like pain and fumes to the finish line in the last 80 meters? real men run the 400.
to extend that pain from 80 meters to something like 200 meters. for little reward, why??
so 400 guys are under represented in the 600 and don't train for it.
in the 500 it is dominated by 800 guys as well.
no milers are to be seen in 600 500 though coe did en route 114 ish, capable of WR. ovett would be in there as well.
i give Hocker 144 at least 800, which is slower than Kessler.
and Kerley 44 400 at this moment.
president has no top 400 guys and 1500 guys in 600
if Kerley trained for the 600 he wins hands down, which won't happen,
but over distance might fit into his base work plans in the winter.
it depends on how they train to get a winner. need to know that.
Kerley will sit on Hocker, and Hocker can't sit on Kerley which is a big factor.
So Hocker opens in 52 with Kerley drafting, and then is a war of attrition.
