Harris is not a leftist, not remotely. There is no left in the states, there never has been. The Democratic Party is nowhere near a left party and never has been. Even people like AOC and Bernie, if you look at their actual platforms, they are social democrats at best.
The political climate has become so polarized. However, we ought to be able to find some common ground on this one simple contention:
Both Harris and Trump are terrible candidates of the lowest caliber.
Setting aside any comparison of one to the other, surely we can agree; no?
Nope! Kamala Harris is a good candidate, and she will be a good President. Anyone who was the Attorney General of California, a US Senator, and the Vice President, has the job experience necessary.
She will have a harder time winning re-election though than she will THIS election. We're not in a recession now, but we COULD be 4 years from now since we haven't had one in a little while (not counting the shallow pandemic one we had during Trump's term). Also, 2028 will be a change election, so if the Rs actually put up someone who isn't a serial-lying, criminal moron, AND they change their image a bit, they could win.
Regarding THIS election Harris will win. It's over.
You must be seeing different polls and predictions than I am. It's literally a toss up. Currently I'd give Trump a 51% chance of winning.
Serious question, what has Harris done to make her terrible?
Serious Answer-
Clearly, not the ideal Presidential ticket, which has created a HUGE divide in our country. If we can set aside the "personal" dislikes of each candidate and solely look at job performance the answer is a bit clearer.
The Democrats (Kamala/Joe) have been running the country the past 3+ years. Can we all honestly say that the country is in a better place than the previous 4 years with Trump? Key determining factors include overall economic health (not just the past 6 months, but the past 3 years combined which include the cost of goods and energy, foreign policy (Israel, Middle East, and China) and national security (border integrity and crime).
To answer the OP, "what has Kamala done to make her terrible", she's done NOTHING! That is the answer, you can't be labeled as "terrible" if you've simply NOT done your job to begin with. She's been a ghost VP that has not made any credible decision to improve and or make our country better. She literally campaigns on the premise of empty promises of free money for all, which include undocumented foreigners who are not legal tax paying citizens, free college tuition, down payments for houses, childcare, etc... Which are all great to have, but who is going to pay for it? In addition, she has no plan on how to achieve this and the impact it will have on our economy. A lot of talk with little substance and no experience or background to execute. At least with Trump, he's been there and done that, and is not a career politician who has ZERO leadership experience and is obviously a puppet for the Democratic party and will bend for extreme left policies.
Put up a better alternative than Harris, someone who can lead, has a plan and isn't afraid to make hard decisions and return America to being a world leader, and you have my vote.
You really are clueless, you didn't even answer. What power do you think the VP has?
The constitution states pretty clearly the VP is a tie breaking vote in the Senate and oversees the counting of electoral ballots, and she did both those jobs well.
So, how is she a ghost?
It's crazy how off tangent you became immediately in your response. Typical sign of low intelligence.
I take your point, but in this case the "maganitude" of the Trump creature is so vast and horrendous, though not as frightening as the creatures that support it, there is for me no way I can weigh or compare whatever lack of enthusiam for Harris with the horrified disgust I feel for him. Being a bully and narcisist are some some of his lesser bad attributes.

Root it in working class economics & I'm there. At the end of the day, both candidates work for the people who fund their campaigns. But that doesn't mean there aren't differences, that there aren't real consequences of electing one over the other, and that you shouldn't vote. Harris is not a terrible candidate of the lowest caliber. She is, however, constrained by her big money donors to meaningfully help working people. Still, not voting for her sets us back even farther.
your premise is off as seen by the responses. if you actually wanted to find common ground then you could have used any of these: saftey, quality of life, prosperity, freedom, etc. obviously there are people out there, lots of them, who adore their candidate.
I agree. Unfortunately, it is pretty much a 2 party system. Itis a choice between the lesser of two evils.
Isn't it sad that it comes down to that? 😔
To equate the "evil" of trump to the "evil" of Harris is amazingly off! She is just not appealing in some ways that are superficial--kind of unlikeable. She has the experience and knowledge and skills to do the job reasonably and with no damage to the Democratic system: not high praise, but not terrifying, like what her opponent presents. How do people view them as "neither candidate appeals to me"? When it is clear, demonstrable, and excessively proven that he is a perfectly dishonest, lying, manipulative, disloyal, coward and bully who hates women, people of color, but idolizes dictators and demagogues? Not to mention his criminal record. How do you equate those two? Your vote will decide. You want the nightmare, ok, but vote. Your vote is a vote for Democracy: use it or lose it!

Serious question, what has Harris done to make her terrible?
Seriously? She sounds like Michael Scott when she talks. She never says anything with any substance. It is all fluff. She cant explain any of her policy positions in any sort of detail. She was a DEI hire for her current role as part of Joe Biden's promise to Clyburne. She wasn't given a single vote to run for president, so she isnt really even qualified to run. It isnt helpful that she has flipped her position on EVERYTHING since dropping out of the 2020 race. She is also partially responsible for the worst immigration policy maybe in the history of this country. Basically she is an idiot. Trump is too, but i mean how can anyone listen to her talk and not think she just never says anything.

The United States is not a democracy and never has been.
Harris is just the lesser of two evils. She, just like Biden, Clinton, Obama, and of course Bush, Trump, are all turds. If you don't think any of them aren't "dishonest, lying, manipulative," you need to spend some time reading some political economy.

When people like you care so much about how a political candidate speaks, you're really just caring about who is the better used car salesman.
We certainly need to find common ground to address the common good. That is a great starting point.
instead of candidates, maybe we should identify common concerns, such as health care, housing, jobs, education, and meeting our baseline needs.
That won't ever happen with the Republican Party. It COULD happen with the Democratic Party, but it will take years upon years of organizing and running local candidates against establishment candidates, and focusing on labor organizing.
Americans are so clueless they, they will keep acting and voting against their interests.
I agree though, if Democratic candidates actually ran on working class issues, for example Medicare For All, something the majority of Americans are for, they could accomplish something.
The Democratic Party basically controlled Congress for fifty years continuously. When they foolish abandoned New Deal politics and fully embraced neoliberalism while constantly acquiescing to the right, they keep losing and accomplishing little for working people.
Can the average American even tell you what the NLRB is? I doubt many here could, yet it is so vitally important for working class people.

That is what we said about Biden and look where he’s left us - inflation, wars around the world, “forgiving” student debt for votes and a dopamine hit, no management of immigration, the list goes on. benign? no.

Yes, I am absolutely sure.
1) Your mistake is that you think the polls are predictors of anything.
2) Your mistake is in not either knowing about or not accepting The Keys to the White House.
3) Your mistake is not taking into account that Democrats have been greatly under represented in polling since the Dobbs Decision.
4) Your mistake is not looking at the gender gap with regard to voting so far.
5) Your mistake is thinking that "Republican" voters are voting for Trump.
The biggest thing though is the keys thing. Harris will win. 303-319 EC votes. It's over.
