Any time someone posts about "the hate" there is a very high chance that they are making up "the hate" in their heads and projecting it onto others.
I don't "hate" Lebron, Bronny or the Lakers. I acknowledge Lebron as one of the all time greats. I also see the value of Lebron playing another year.
I can even relate to Lebron's desire to play with his son. If I were in his position that would be something that I would absolutely love to have happen.
All that said, by making his desire public, Lebron has made everything that Bronny accomplishes be questioned. "Oh, Bronny couldn't make it on his own. He is only there because of Daddy."
Lebron has also put the Lakers in an awkward position. They were basically forced to draft Bronny. Now, if they keep him in the big leagues rather than sending him down to the G league, few will consider Bronny to have legitimately made it. Also, as I pointed out above, the Lakers may well feel compelled to have a substandard roster in order to give Bronny playing time. Of course, all of this is off the table if Bronny just kills it on the court. For everyone's sake, I hope he does.
The reality is that if you want what is best for your child, it is often best to keep your mouth shut and let your child stand on his/her own two legs.
And no, none of this is "hate".
I don’t know how any reasonable person could read this thread or other social media and not see the hatred for Lebron/this gesture.
The Lakers weren’t forced to do anything. They decided another year of Lebron was worth drafting a guy that is not NBA ready. They (wisely) signed up for that.
It’s an entertainment industry. Hard to argue it wasn’t that.
The “it’s an entertainment industry” excuse for silliness is a slippery slope.
Being a Warriors fan, I was never too keen on Lebron. But the way Lebron came to play in the Olympics this summer was really impressive for a guy his age. The U.S. team wouldn't have won the gold medal without him. I am also impressed by how Bronny, still just a teenager, has handled all of the pressure that his dad has put on him. He demonstrates athleticism and determination, but he needs more time to develop confidence and skills. Given his family genetics, it would not be a shock to see Bronny develop into a journeyman NBA caliber player by the time his 3-year contract expires.

Do you think they should kneel on the court together?
The most contrived phony baloney moment in history. He was not even remotely a top college player. Not even a top 75 HS prospect. He might, might dominate your local early morning Y game.
Name literally any other 55th draft pick in nba history of the top of your head. If you can't you are the problem. Hop off
What's really too bad about this is that neither will be able to play with any of the unnamed young black men that have been gunned down over the past few years due to the increase in crime spawned by communists like LeBron being in favor of "defunding the police" (while using them as security for himself).
Kinda crazy that a guy like that keeps his street cred, but there's a lotta dumb people in this country, I guess.
Anyway, yeah, congrats on playing sportsball with your kid or whatever (should LeBron ever read this).
If I had been for "defunding the police", I'd feel terrible about all of the excess deaths too. I'd probably downvote posts that confronted me on my stupidity and wouldn't want to face the direct consequences of my poorly thought out and ridiculous views. No hard feelings to the downvoters, but know that if you supported "defunding the police", you actually (although probably inadvertently) supported the murder of several extra young, black men. "Do better" next time (as you're all so fond of saying).
The term for hiring a relative is nepotism, which is the practice of giving relatives or close friends preferential treatment in the workplace. This can include hiring them for jobs, promotions, or other professional opportunities, regardless of their qualifications or performance.
Nepotism can be harmful to employers, employees, and the company as a whole. It can send the message that personal relationships are more important than skills and capabilities. It can also be unfair to other employees who don't benefit from the same privileges.
While nepotism is generally considered unethical, it's a legal and acceptable practice in many businesses. However, it's important to deal with it carefully to avoid legal complications and unhappy employees.
Trumps daughter had a office in the White House. Jared was negotiating Middle East deals. Trump's daughter in law is running the GOP. Its not nepotism its a dictator.
Yes, this is a stunt but it's not totally crazy. Having now completed the achievement of playing as father and son, I expect Bronny will have a few more opportunities to play in limited minutes (Gotta score some points, have a father-to-son assist, etc.) and then be sent to the G league for further development.
Bronny may have gone undrafted without LeBron's influence, but I encourage you all to watch a few highlights and read some scouting reports. If he works hard, he's got a chance to be a solid role player in the NBA. He has good form, but he'll need to start hitting a lot more shots before he contributes.

Cmon, Bronny surely got a break to be on the 2024 Lakers, but he was generally a top 25 hs prospect.
He certainly had a chance to be drafted in the real world, had he come out between '25 and '29 (BYU plan) at some point.
His heart issue really messed up his year 1 at U$C.
He is not Lebron2.0, but he can be NBA competent D and 3 guy.

This is awfully Trumpian of Lebron. He's had a dynamite career, four championships, rookie of the year, many MVPs, many times all-star and First Team All-NBA. Now he uses his power to force the Lakers to bring in a totally unqualified child of his into the organization and the NBA. Nepotism is ugly when it is so obviously the only reason the kid is in the show. Same reason we had to witness the spectacle of Ivanka, Jared Kushner, and the Trump sons in the White House, or even himself and his children in the Ivies.
Bronny was ranked #20 by ESPN for college prospects in 2023, but that was a major mistake. Roughly six guys ahead of him are in the league now as well, but he should not have been there because he had a heart attack and surgery, as well as a really poor freshman year of basketball, so as good a kid as he is, he's not a basketball player on that level at all right now. He's the height of a small point guard but has no pg skills, and he's not that great a shooter and way undersized for a 2 guard. He's been overmatched in preseason and most of summer league.
Prospect rankings don't mean much at that level, however. If you look at 2022, you'll see a bunch of current pros up high (at least ten of the top 21) but then you'll see multiple first and second round picks who were listed below the top 70 prospects, guys like Donovan Clingan (#73), Brice Sensabaugh (#86), Noah Clowney (#99), and Ryan Dunn (#147).
Just to clarify, Bronny was already an undersized two guard without too much of a jump shot in hs, so he didn't warrant a #20 ranking as a college prospect. After heart surgery, recovery time, hardly any stats on a poor team as a freshman, his NBA prospects would have been nil had his name been Bronny Jumes. NBA sources have been saying it loud and clear since summer league.
I don't get the hate. Part of being a high achiever is providing more for your kids. Certainly, there is some nepotism involved here (mainly the 3 year minimum contract they gave him), but if Bronny weren't Lebron's kid, he probably would have followed the Scotty Pippen Jr. track and made it anyways. He's got elite athleticism (highest vertical at the combine), has a good shot (best or second best at the 3 point competition at the combine), good attitude, and projects to an area of real need for the Lakers--point of attack defense. Plus, he might keep Lebron from retiring for an extra year which is probably worth the roster spot. He is the kind of prospect you would spend the 55th pick of the draft on (high upside unfinished product).
The problem is Bronny didn't earn his spot. If he had been successful in the NCAA, then we wouldn't see so many people having an issue with this. But he averaged less than five points per game in college. This is after averaging only 14 points per game as a high school senior. Does that sound like the resume of someone who deserves to be in the NBA?
It's nice that he can jump high, but he needs to be able to do a lot more than that to be able to contribute to winning basketball. As for his shot, there's a huge difference between making uncontested threes in a shooting drill and shooting in a competitive game with an opposing team playing defense. Seriously, look at this video of him shooting threes at the combine, casually jogging to his spots:
Does that look anything at all like shooting in a real game?
A better way to gauge his shooting ability is to look at his stats in live games:
College: 36.6 FG%, 26.7 3P%, 67.6 FT%
NBA Pre-Season: 29.7 FG%, 8.3 3P%
Those numbers don't warrant someone making an NBA roster.
I agree he isn't ready for the NBA. I think I said his contract was because of his dad. My point is he looks like someone who could become an NBA journeyman (think Patrick Beverly). His college season was mostly a bust due to his heart condition only allowing him to start working out days before the season began. Most of the scouting reports out of the combine and scrimmages was that Bronny looked like a second round prospect (and he was drafted at the end of the second round). Do you really think Colin Castelton or Quincy Olivari will help the Lakers win more than Bronny would? (The answer is none of them will help them win, but they all have potential to do in another 2 years).
We had a similar situation with Giannis' brother (Thanasis) and nobody made a fuss about that.

Which is worse? Bronny following his dad into the NBA or Dubya following his dad into the White House?
How about Bill Belichik's son getting coaching job with the Patriots?
How about most of you following your daddy and grandaddies to their alama maters or their Wall Street firms?
