MLK was missing Carlson, and Lunetta didn’t have a great race. With their full healthy lineup, I don’t think they will be able to keep up with Beckman or Jesuit, unless either of them have an off race. They weren’t able to at Clovis and all of their top 5 did really well there.
St Francis Mountain View dominated the girls race. Many top girls teams didn’t run their full lineup
Trey Caldwell, a University of Colorado Boulder commit, ran 4:40 1st mile, 9:46 2nd mile, 14:46 3rd mile, and new Mt SAC Invitational 3 Mile Course Record.
They were missing both their Clovis #5 Christian Webber but also their #6 Aaron Feaster who ran a close 15:38 and 15:42 respectively. They were also Arnold O. Beckman’s #3 and #4 at Central Park Invite. Feaster was the winner of the Mt. SAC Mountie Invite, beating Mason Nguyen, so he would have probably been up with the top runners, and Webber was only a few seconds behind Nguyen, he is also the school’s fastest returner from the track season with a 9:20 3200. I would think to say their absence would have minimal difference is pretty inaccurate. I believe Jude Tenorio, who ran a 16:15 at Clovis, stepped it up big time, even beating their Clovis #4 Anthony Barrera, and made it just feel as if minimal difference was made from the missing entries. Their Clovis JV winner Hassan Side was also notably absent. Not that this would have caused some massive difference in points, Arnold already won, but you can’t win State with only 5, and it seems this team may be 7 deep. Hopefully their missing Varsity members aren’t enduring any serious injuries

Dana Hills won D3 state and autoqualified for NXN with a 5-deep team last year.
The revised course sounds like a positive change! Eliminating Poop Out Hill and extending the race to 3 miles should make for a more exciting experience, especially since finishing in the stadium will enhance the atmosphere for both runners and spectators. It's great that the new layout allows for better visibility of the race from the stadium seats, which should create a more engaging environment for everyone involved.
Very funny. It’s impossible to spectate on the course and also see the finish on the check. All the barriers make it unbelievably unspectator-friendly. The new layout is garbage. Everybody hates it.
MT SAC sucked this year. They have been forcing this course down the throats of California for years now. It’s time to put an end to this terrible excuse for a cross country course that’s completely embarrassing.

Not the vibe I got this weekend. From a spectator perspective, there's no doubt that it's better. The coverage was amazing at the venue and online. Getting to follow on the jumbotron was great for people who didn't want to run to different viewing points. The stadium ending with the smoke effect, and the last 300 being on the track made for some awesome finishes.
There always seems to be more injuries at Mt Sac than anywhere, but by eliminating poopout should reduce the odds of injury and improve the competition in future years because so many top runners skip this race.
Props to the Mt Sac team who put this all together. They knew change would be controversial, but they were very thoughtful about everything. Props to everyone pn a successful weekend.

It's time California moves on from Mt SAC. They course is outdated and a perfect way to get injured. I recall Newbury Park in the Brosnan era never racing that course and being admittedly against running the course. People bit@hed when Brosnan was critical on the course from the start line to the dangerous downhill. But I believe we all know this course is nothing but a bunch of all timers living in the past. It's officially time to take Mt SAC off the schedule for good. It's just not a facility to hold a legit cross country race course.

I think the good coaches are following this lead. A lot of top California talent skipped Mt. SAC this year and I see that being the trend moving forward. Coaches are finally getting smart.

Mt. SAC is bad no matter what course they run. The track meet is dead too. This place is a graveyard for T&F. HS tracks are better then this place.

Which coaches are we talking about? According to PrepCalTrack's D1 rankings, which lists 13 teams, all 13 boys teams were there. And the top 2 D2 as well. Nearly all the top teams were there, which hasn't happened in a while. The only top team missing from the SS was JSerra, and they had raced both Clovis and the OC championships the two weeks before, so it isn't a surprise a team might skip Mt Sac purely because they can't race every weekend.
Are you saying all the top teams in the southern section have bad coaches, and some bad teams are the ones with good coaches?
