No missionary/trainer to Egypt have survived islam extremism long enough to set up camp.

But given their altitude and hard environs I'd say Peru/Bolivia and Nepal are the more noticable absentees on the global arena.

This question applies to almost all African countries. The answer is that track and field is a dead or non-existent sport in most African countries. For a runner to succeed from Libya or Zambia or Malawi or Niger or Gabon or Mauritania or Tchad or Congo or .........................

They have to be so talented and so determined that they will overcome having no coach, no running tracks, no gym, no equipment, no running shoes , no support system, no active federation no Physios, plus parents and relatives who discourage them from pursuing this sport because it doesn't pay in 99% of cases.
