Um.. LGBTQIAP2S+ meaning lesbian, fat, bi-sexual, transgender, queer(or questioning), intersex, asexual, pansexual and two-spirit(originally from Canadian Cree Heritage) are all part of the Community
Nothing was made up. Thanks.
I edited my post because I realize the OP wasn't kidding. I didn't mean to be disrespectful but as a fellow liberal, we embarrass ourselves sometimes (with things like this) and I thought that was what was happening
p.s. Why is "fat" now part of the group?
I explained the whoops lol. I assumed typing gay would generate gay first..it doesn't.
Why can't we go back to don't ask don't tell? Don't make it public and don't make it incredibly obvious within 5 seconds of meeting you (or should that say th-econd-th?) and I can tolerate that

Can you? You do know that lisping can also result from shifted teeth or improperly placing the tongue right?
I think people are pushing back because it is starting to sound like alphabet soup of oppressed identities. We are getting close to the point where it would be easier to just type the NTI community (non-traditional identities). If you start calling it that, it would be be easier to take the group more seriously.
If you start claiming that the "two spirit" community is being "underrepresented by Disney and that maybe you should sue!" actual/potential allies will start to write you off as insane. This could cause the real, serious problems that the LGBT community is facing to be ignored.

NTI? But who is it not traditional to?
If you are in the Community.. isn't it just... life?
I want to make it clear that probably millions of Americans are still very homophobic and harbor feelings of hate or disgust when they think about the LGBT community. That is still very real (and some of those people are not shy about "sharing" their feelings).
That said, think this thread is still a bit off-base. Just because individuals feel a certain way, doesn't mean the country is that way.
For the most part, our cultural institutions support all people, especially those who have been historically underrepresented or repressed. Would you say these groups are for or against the LGBT+ community:
Large national corporations like Apple, Nike, Google, Starbucks, etc.
Hollywood and Broadway
The actual laws on the books in the USA
Traditional media outlets like ABC, CBS, NBC, etc.
Social media influencers
Sports leagues
Public schools
Music industry
All those churches with pride flags
Universities and Colleges
Cafés and bookstores
NPR and PBS
The Federal government's own policies
etc.
I will admit that Fox and about 99% of American Evangelical churches are still pretty anti-LGBT+ . But those groups don't really represent America as much as the above groups do.
I agree. There are some people (like me) who have had a snootful of LGBT preaching, and would be perfectly happy to never sit through another pious lecture about “finding my authentic self” or any of that horsesh*t. I find the national obsession with same sex activity, or paying a doctor to perform surgery and adjust your junk, to be revolting and indicative of very serious and widespread emotional, psychological, and spiritual problems.
But I freely admit that I am in the minority, and people like me possess approximately zero cultural power. That’s life. People will pay a price for their decisions. They’re free to make a mess of their lives.
But what gets me really angry is the assertion that LGBT people are poor and oppressed, despite having won every single significant battle for the past 20 years. Despite the fact that you can indoctrinate school children in the lifestyle, and some states will allow minors to receive gender changing care without parental consent.
It’s disingenuous and patronizing. Don’t p!ss on my boots and tell me it’s raining.
Can we all drop the "myriad" debate? It is derailing the thread.
If you google it, you can see that in English it is usually used this way:
"There are a myriad of possibilities when shoe shopping these days"
"The myriad shades of green in the forest were impossible to ignore"
"The Letsrun moderators offered no solution for all our myriad problems"
"There are myriad ways in which global warming can imperil the environment"
"Robert Johnson is so deserving of recognition, for myriad reasons" "Children of the wealthy already receive myriad advantages when applying to college"
And "Myriad" can be used as a noun or an adjective. As a noun, it means "10,000 precisely" or "a great number generally". As an adjective, it means "great in number," "countless," or "innumerable".

I'll even break it down...
Gays--- certain runners get attacked here constantly..I won't say names... because they came out
Lesbians ---Brittney Griner is female and yet people call her a man
Bi-sexual ---People want to decide if they like men or women but accordingly it's sometimes both
Transgender -- it's realistic to not fit into your assigned gender..you do not choose it
Queer/Questioning --- Sometimes the gender feels incomplete..why?
Intersex-- they are pigeonholed but the sex is ambiguous due to genetics
Asexual -- I have never slept with anyone and don't want to...
Pansexual --- this means all genders, all sexes... not goats or dogs
Two-spirit: having a male and female spirit
We're all androgynous and have testosterone and estrogen... the distribution matters.
To say it's mentally driven is incomplete because it's more hormonal than anything

You posted myriad good points. Is that okay to say?
If you are in the Community.. isn't it just... life?
Aren't you just trying to live?
See, now you are pretending not to know things. You know what the traditional family structures are in each culture. If you go to Mexico or Russia or Nigeria you will find millions of people living inside the norms of their cultures. Those people represent the traditional norms of their societies. And yes, you can live in those countries and operate outside the norms of those communities. You'll know when that is happening because you will act and feel other than most of the people around you.
If you want to be different, go for it (I support you) but don't claim to not be different from something.
It is like when a trans-boy acts boyish (and supported for being brave in his new gender) but when we define the traits which make up "acting boyish" we are admonished for proscribing a narrow definition of how boys should act.
If there is no "way boys act" then trans-boys have nothing to aspire to, no way to look, no way to behave. Or do they? I am getting confused as to what is being asked of me (by my fellow Liberals).
