How much hate would you give someone if they told you, with a straight face, that they were going to break the marathon world record? Or any other track record?
You hate all your track team mates that much that ever tried for a school record?
How far behind the record do you think he pulls the pin?
Or does he just keep going until either a) he does ten days or b) body ceases to cooperate?
Good question. I would think that he has no chance to do it in under 14 days. Even sub 15 days would be an excellent result. Here is a record list I found. Not sure how updated it is.

Why can’t I set up a breaking 2 scenario? I’ve run an ok marathon time before
when I go through the first half ten minutes behind you can keep cheering me on and say, ‘ at least you tried’ ‘ had the balls to give it a go’
I’m somewhat poorly trying to make point about why some of us think it’s an outlandish claim, and that it shows no respect for those guys that quietly achieved monumental results
I don’t think Nedd is being disrespectful about it. Why would he set out on this massive feat if he didn’t think he could do it?
Because he is a scamster. He didn't run in record time through Australia. He only managed 52 miles or so per day. Which is solid but not mind boggling.
Going from that to 100 miles a day for 10 days, is just insane.
But that's what scamsters do. They are good at selling their idea to the internet and anybody with real knowledge questioning it, is a hater. I have seen that so many times.
There where just 9 runners in the past who managed to run 100+ miles over 6 days and this guy thinks he can do it for 10.
It is an easy WR. All you have to do is a 15 hr jog per day at 9 minute mile pace. Then you can nap for 8 hours, which is plenty, and have an hour to eat pizza, coffee and cake, take a dump and chill
It's your record for the taking, champ! You've got the eating cake and dumping part down pat. The running will be easy!
I wouldn't be able to do it in my current shape because I'm unfit and only doing 20-30 miles of easy running per week. I want to get back to PB shape and then run sub 2:30 in the thon. If I can do that then the WR should be easy, unless Bekele goes for it and puts it out of reach for everyone. I'm much better at longer stuff anyway, so I think I could do well in ultra's. There are many thousands of people who could also do it if they wanted. The main barrier is time and money. If you are rich, have lots of spare time, and are a half decent runner who doesn't mind repeating the same thing over and over everyday and don't get bored easily, then the WR is easy. You can also nap 8 hrs a day, and enjoy eating and dumping for an hour while you watch netflix or something, if there is a tent beside the track. Most people would be glad to have 10 days with 0 responsibilities

You probably wouldn't finish a marathon no matter the time. Finish one, until then it's all BS.
This seems like an absolutely impossible record. Let's say you have 1h for eating/washing/etc and sleep 6h a day, which I imagine you'd need to be able to keep any kind of pace going. That gives you 17h a day. If you want to cover 100 miles a day, to get the record in 10 days, that means you have to cover 5.88 miles an HOUR. That's nearly 10-min miles! I run that slow on recovery runs sometimes as my only run for the day, and you'd have to do that for TEN DAYS STRAIGHT.
Now, if you want to sneak under the 10d10h record, you essentially get 18h for each 100mi - but that's still 33 mins per 5k! EVERY SINGLE HOUR. Sometimes I run a hilly 5k in 33 if I've just done a very intense interval session - this guy is doing it ALL THE TIME. I just don't see how anyone can do this.

Brockman is not a "scamster". He set the record time for the run through Australia because there are no other faster records verified. Your friend did NOT set a verified record time running through Australia earlier just because you are friends. In the words of Law Abiding Citizen: It's not what you know, it's what you can prove!

Unless you have done a multiday race, it's impossible to imagine who slow you get. You need at least 2-3 hours for eating/washing/changing clothes/ going to the restroom/.... For sleep 2-4 hours might be enough. But it's also very hard to sleep. So that makes it 19 hours and a 5.26 mile/hour pace. Still very high if you ask me.
And then, most people forget that, you body has to hold up. Running for so long creates a huge stress on your body. So you have to walk that fine line between pushing and staying injury free. Once you get shin splints, it gets very painful and for most runners it's over.

Patrick Malandain had probably exactly the same prove as your buddy Nedd. Photos and Strava. On top of that he had a good reputation as a good runner doing stuff in real races. Something Nedd does not have.
