Summer weather lingers in much of North America and Pre-Nats in Oct may feel more like the traditional Nuttycombe meet this year. Nonetheless, the big national invite in Madison, WI is here and packed with plenty of storylines. Here are a few that I will follow:[i]Can Rosina Machu keep pace with Amina Maatoug and Chloe Scrimgeour?[/i][i]Can Providence produce a power trio to match Clemson’s big three?[/i][i]Nathan Green of UWash and Oregon’s Klaudia Kazimierska clocked monster 1500m times this summer, 3:32.30 and 3:59.95 respectively. Will either convert impressive track speed to XC All-American status?[/i][i]EKU’s Justine Kipkoech and BYU’s Casey Clinger have been competing in the NCAA since 2017. Can these seasoned veterans dispatch Parker Wolfe, the Wake Forest young guns and a stream of up-and-comers on the grass?[/i][i]FloTrack recently listed Silan Ayyildiz and Anna Peters as two of the top 10 XC athletes in the country. Some have questioned those rankings. with the caveat of not knowing how teams approached this race and many were held out, time in general not that fast - but first race for many. Nice win by Sigsfed and sub 20 is decent time - but great conditions. Machu faded badly. Good team result for UT but lineup looked a little upside down. Georgetown and Providence back ends not as strong as I would have thought. Maatoug of WA way back but decent runs by Stiles and David-Smith. Millard and Schilling further back than I would have expected as well.

Is this the end of Nuttycombe being a premier NCAA Div I CC meet?
The real Nuttycombe is called Pre-Nats this year. It will be at the regular time on the same course with the same strong field as usual.

Wow!!!! The Badgers aren't running anyone in the Championship race. Kind of a joke! I get resting them but hosting the meet and not running anyone!

Top 4 teams stayed the same the last 2k. BYU looks unreal deep.
Colorado dropped from 5th-8th in the last 2k. Gained 23 spots total in that time

Does anyone know the reason why? I just spent 10 minutes trying to find comments from Mick or someone else and couldn't. Because yes, it is rather embarrassing.

not trying to take too much from this years Nuttycombe as it's just a prelude to pre-nats, though I was surprised Iowa St. men's couldn't break 100 points against this field. maybe they held some runners back or their top guns didn't run but for a squad thats been touted as a podium threat at nationals i thought they'd finish higher.

Nice race by Wake Forest. Ran six sophomores and held out last year’s ACC freshman of the year who projects as their number three man. The plan is to redshirt four really good freshmen including JoJo.
